Replying to: stevesmer (Oct 30, 2008 11:34 am) thanks for pulling those r350 auction numbers from wendy. i didnt get a chance to get back over there.... as you can see, your buyout quote is right in line with the wholesale values for R350s. What does not make sense is why anyone would spend that much for the 350 when the 500 can be had for another $1-2k....i would have expected that the R500 would be more desired now that it is no longer imported into the U.S. Not to say that the 350 isnt a good car, but the 500 never lacks for power even when pulling its 5000lbs around town or at speeds in excess of 80mph.....I really do not understand how anyone could choose a big luxury SUV over this car....the infinity and lexus cannot hold a candle to the ride or performance and the R has nearly as much interior volume. |

| To answer the above I called the 800 number listed on the website for MB finance. I told the lease rep that I was going to buy a different R500 from another dealer unless she could convince me not to. I complained about my residual. She asked for milage and I told her I took a dealer demo with 6000 miles and added the allowed 27k miles over the lease term. She said $25,500 not including tax. This was quoted just under 3 months out. There is no final inspection. I just cut a check. I don't know if my mile estimate had an impact on the price but I really only have a total of 20k miles on it. I think this is a great deal and will go for it. Only road block is high maintenance wife who wants a Q7. | |

Time for a new wife ...one that wants a Ferrari! |

In Oct my payoff quote was $23,500 for my 2006 R350. I just spoke to MB today and they said the incentive has gone down and my payoff would be $25,400. But they would still honor the first quote from October. Has anyone else called recently? Are you getting the same info? Thanks.

Replying to: stevesmer (Nov 06, 2008 8:22 am) In any event, i got offered a cash price of $26,275 inc. tax (with no remaining lease payments). My lease has two more months so i am going to wait and gamble that the price will go down a bit more. i cannot see auction prices increasing in the winter given continued economic turmoil and the fear of higher taxes and a deeper recession in '09. |

| the buyout on my R350 is ~$24k. I can't quite decide whether to keep it or not, so I've considered extending my lease for 6 months. However, MB Finance told me the buyout in 6 months will reflect the $38k resid from the original lease, and not the lower current offer. Does anyone know if that will actually be the case, or are they just trying to close the deal now. | |
