Forget my suggestion then, Even Heaven can't help GM." Well Ford sure as heck bailed out Mazda to the tune of ignoring their home market. And better watch out because Porsche is throwing cash at VW which may turn into a huge money pit. Never say never about the auto industry because there seems to be another Toyota based recall today on the heels of a 1.2 million recall yesterday. Look the end is if a few disappointed Mazda cronies are looking for a way to trash the Solstice because their new model is such a dud, go do the trashing over on the Mazda thread. You really don't think you are going to get free shots every where. Not everybody on the Edmunds site is as biased as the "experts" that write for them. |

| is for comparing/contrasting the features of the Solstice and MX-5, and everyone is welcome to express his/her opinion here. If you don't agree with someone's opinion, please refute it respectfully. If you don't like what someone else has to say, read on. Thanks. | |

There is a huge gap here, I dare say you ask a hundred people which car has the edge in looks and well over 90% will give it to the Pontiac. And though some want to avoid it, this is significant because no matter how it is avoided, Pontiac has caught and passed so much of the competition the defenders of the competition have to resort to cliches and fairy tales. Yes a first year car is the leader in class over a car with a 15 year head start. And what slight weaknesses real, imagined or fabricated there are, they will be soon resolved with strengths in other areas. And what is more significant, the Saturn Sky is just around the corner. |

You Pontiac guys need to get it together on just when style is everything and when style is nothing...... |

Replying to: lbthedawg (Oct 21, 2005 10:12 am) There simply is no argument about it." Boy, you just don't get it, do you? Regardless of the merits of the Solstice, especially the subjective "image" factor that you are stuck on, there are some people - make that several tens of millions of people - who wouldn't buy a Pontiac if their only alternative were a bicycle. Look, I actually hope that the Solstice is a success. But I'm not out there buying GM stock just yet. GM is the worst performinag major car company in the world, and Pontiac is it's worst division. That's due in large part to their having perfected poor build quality, poor reliability and poor resale values over several decades. If you want to claim there is no argument about something, start with that. |

| its lack of true driving excitement (read quality of driver's feel & control) just won't cut it. After all, neither of them is a drag racer, so sideway fun is what counts! & again, none of them is a Formula One, so it's for drifting at relatively safe low speeds & not the max lateral g-force. | |

GM is the worst performinag major car company in the world, and Pontiac is it's worst division. I think you may be correct.... We may never get the chance to compare the long term reliability and sales record of the Solstice...Unless something really spectacular happens, Pontiac is gone within 5 years. |
