I hope you enjoy your S2000(I hope they fixed the bumpsteer problem), had one for 4 years, replaced the rear tires ever 8k miles(with never a burnout!) and the fronts every 20k miles... only got that many on the fronts by unmounting them and moving then to the other side of the car. The bridgestones hydroplaned worse than any car I have ever had. They also stuck better(in the dry) that any tire I have ever driven on... I consistantly avg'ed 26 mpg, except during a track day to Motorsports ranch, when I got 16mpg. By the way if you find their website and find pics of the S2000 club... mine was the red one closest to the camera on the rh side.

All the above said... I loved the look of the solstice! Still do, however after sitting in one at the car show the had the top up... I decided against it. I could not see to my left with out having to duck down to look out. This was a deal breaker. I tried in vain to find one to drive in the real world and was quite offended by the number of pontiac salespersons that laughed when I asked about availability!! I passed by a Mazda dealership and fell in love with the 1st MX-5 PRHT I saw. Took me 2 months to find one in Red and a dealer that would take the "S" plan(invoice price). 3300 miles and it has been perfect. By the way I push 1 button to raise my "hard" top out from under it's hard cover w/o ever getting out of the car. And the trunk is larger than my S2000 was.

Haven't had it long enough to tell if the tires are going south or not. I love the car and already had it at the AutoBahn (Joliet). No bump steer problems with the 2007 models. Its a great car and much faster and quicker than any Miata I've driven and for the price of entry (about $30K), its in the same price ball park too. I always say, thats why they make 31 flavors.

Check out JDPower.com website since they have buyer demographics info...

% of buyers male for three cars I picked out:

1) 2007 MX-5 - 67% (2006 was 72% male!)
2) 2007 Solstice - 65%
3) 2007 BMW 3-series - 57% - THE CHICK CAR WINNER

These messages are dated, so I thought I'd mention a few things.

I bought the '08 Solstice, non-GXP. This motor, with VVT, rips! It's rated at 7 seconds on 0-60, but my standard 2.4, after breaking it in for a couple of weeks, absolutely rips! It does 80 in 2nd gear! It pulls so hard down low that it feels slow, but it cranks its best between 5,200-6,200 RPM. That's aggressive!

It's only a 177HP four-banger, but it's so light it blows my V8 Tundra away!

I very carefully picked my car choice for a two-seater, but now I can't keep my wife out of the thing!

Oh, well ... when the warranty is done, I'll drop the 300HP turbo kit into the sucker! I just wish the warranty wasn't so long (3yr bumper to bumper, 5yr (100k/20k per year) drivetrain - comprehensive except for the clutch. Yeah, mine is standard.

All I can say is, the car was kinda tight and stiff and slow-shifting when I received it, but after about 800 miles it loosened up to the point where it absolutely rips!!!

Oh, and in 4th gear going 50mph on flat ground, I'm pulling 37 miles per gallon according to the Driver Information Center (DIC). Yeah, how tough is that? My Solstice has a DIC! Hehe!

Love this car. Mean yellow is the only way to go!

It only feels that way. It's an illusion!
