a continuing lack of inventory resulting in only a 30-day supply

just so folks know...a 30 days supply of cars is a very low number and it translates into a limited selection. 10-14 days of the 30 day supply is considered shipping days.

Maybe roadsters in general are seeing a revival. I'd love for that to be true.

This segment will probably grow as gas gets more expensive and people want smaller cars that don't need the A/C run as often,

perhaps...but the roadster isnt a practical car for the average family ..two seater....small trunk....not convenient for kids...and lots of others get better gas mileage...than either the sol or mazda

Actually, modern air conditioneers have far less an impact on fuel usage than the drag inherent in open car design.

All other things being equal, a coupe with the windows closed and air con on has better aerodynamics yielding better mpgs than a convertible with the top down and air con off.

MX-5 RHT, Pontiac to follow? by aviboy97

Mazda will be releasing the MX-5 RHT (retractable hard top) this coming model year. I wonder if the Solstice or Sky will follow?

I guess this MX-5 will not have much useable trunk space with the top down. I have yet to see any pictures or specs, so, I am purely speculating.

I would say the sky might..but I doubt you will see a retractable hardtop in the Solstice...thats what the G6 convertible is for IMHO.....wondering the price fo the RHT....betting it will easily push 30K....

Solstice I believe will state low end priced as it was first introduced......nicely optioned for around 23-24K

It is too early for pricing yet, however, I can see the price pushing close to $30K in the Grand Touring model.

The rumors of a HT MX-5 are just that - rumors. More likely scenario is a return of the RX-7 (as 2 seater) with a collapsible HT and rotary engine.

It does not make much sense in the first place for an HT MX-5 since it would add weight and cost - hurting the basis of its wide appeal - dynamic handling and decent performance at an attractive price.
