I agree, I'm a chevy man to, but tell me why in the heck did chevrolet 1500 go back to drum breaks on the rear of their trucks for? Get with the times chevrolet your going backwards. And if anyone knows I would like to know why they went back to drum breaks?

My experience (having owned 2 GM trucks w/disks and an 05 with drums) is that the drum brakes stop and generally feel better than the disk brakes did.

From what I understand, when GM switched to drums in the rear, they increased the size of the front disks, thus increasing braking power where it's needed most.

Depending on how a truck is used (i.e. if it's used as a truck), the rear drums probably make sense b/c they're better protected from the elements (mud, dirt, salt, sand, water) which tend to gum up up calipers/slides on disk brake setups.

Personally-directed posts have been removed, along with all of the "versus" posts. This discussion is specifically about the 07 Silverado/Sierra, and not about other manufacturers, and especially not about other Forums members. Thanks for keeping on-topic.

Whats the best truck for me? by amocan

Please Help, I need to ask all you truck owners who are walking encyclopedias which is the best truck for me? I have looked at, driven and are considering one of these five "loaded" 4x4 extended cab trucks. 1500 Sierra 5.3, 1500 Silverado 5.3, 1500 Ram 5.7, Titan 5.6 or Ford F150 5.4. I'm 53 years old this is my first new truck I've always bought used. My driving habits are mostly around town, some highway and occasionally in the woods hunting. I would like something comfortable and quite cruising down the highway but also something with maneuverability when turning around on a woods road or parking lot. Options, gas mileage and dependability are also important considerations. What would you buy and why?

I've read December, 2006, but November could just as easily be the case. Anyone know if the 2500 HD Silverados
are scheduled for release at the same time as the 1500s?
Thanks.
