I thought the badge on the back was copying the Escalade version of the truck as they had a big emblem on the tailgate.

So how's the truck doing? Still using Zaino? Works real good on black.

bought all new stuff for this one.........needs to be clayed for sure, but it's been so hot here that by days end, i'm too pooped to pop.....gonna wait till things cool down.
truck has a 1,000 miles on it now, not a glitch, squeak or even the usual burp i've had with any other vehicle i've owned........some complain about the throttle management that GM incorperated into these new trucks, but i like it.....with my '00, when i punched it i always felt like the engine was gonna lose it's lunch as it would drop into a gear at close to redline at times, but this one has a good broad punch to it without going into hyper RPM's. obviously they did it to get them through the 5/100K warranty. i've also read where guys claim their engines don't go into V4 mode for more than a few seconds, thereby claiming the Active Fuel Management is a gimmick. i've gone down a flat highway at 65 and had the thing stay in V4 mode for over 7-8 miles with no problem, so who knows.

Hey Northga-
The lots are full and dealerships are willing to sell. You may not get the rebates on the 08 as you would for the 07. I would buy the 07. It is the same truck with no changes. 5/100 warranty, etc. As for the gas mileage....well good luck with that!!! I have LT ext. cab 4x2 5.3, Active Flex Mgmt, 3.73 gear and the best I get is 19.2 and that is if I have wind at my back and every 5th sunday (haha). So, you can expect about 15 to 17 and that is highway. Just being honest and best of luck!

Well I have had this truck for about 5 months now. I have between 5 and 6 thousand miles on it. I keep reading about gas mileage concerns here and thought I would chime in. I haven't reset the computer for a couple of months and checked the gas mileage average a couple of days ago. I am at 16.4 mpg. I'm not complaining. The last month for sure I have been using the air even it the morning. I did expect to get around 15mpg so I'm there I guess. And this is on that 6.2 motor with all wheel drive. The best part about this truck is everything. I really do believe that this is GMC's best built truck. I have no rattles or squeaks. I have had zero problems. Here's my only complaint.... I wish there was a place "in" the dash to put my phone. Yea there is the center console but I prefer the dash. Anyway, I think the only improvement that may come (will come) is the electric assist motor to improve gas mileage. That will be the big thing to sell more trucks. All the other things a really quite minor, example- power rear window with vertical operation with defrost, curb lights in the outside mirrors, instant gas mileage read out, standard bed liner of some kind. But I'm very pleased overall. Will have to see how the all wheel drive (computer controlled) works this winter in the snow. I hope it doesn't clunk when it engages. Those kind of noises make me nervous! By the way this is my second GMC. Had an 04. Before that I had about a dozen Ford trucks all purchased new. The Denali is the best pick-up I have ever purchased!
I do have one question though. When synthetic oil is used, is there a longer interval between oil changes? I put valvoline synthetic oil in at about 500 miles and the computer says that I'm at 52% oil life left. Seems that the synthetic oil may last longer or should I not pay attention to the computer and just change it every 5 thousand miles? Thanks,Troy

I'd change at 5K and have an oil analysis done. They can tell you if you're over or still have a lot of oil life left.

You can email them and they will send you a package in which to send them the oil sample. Makes for a little extra peace of mind.

Getting my oil changed today. I use Valvoline Synpower. Don't know how long to go between oil changes. I have ordered the kit to test my oil. Thanks for the link.

dwyerchevy07
thanks for the info. do you think that Labor Day will bring more incentives? Also has anyone noticed any differences in the ride and handling with or without z71 package as compared to 4x4 with 20 in wheels?

synthetic oils can go 8 to 10 k with no problems...go to bitog to look at used oil analysis..go to syn oil board here....10k oil change would be fine...just make sure it has enough oil
