What Tire Pressure? by jocatch

I have had my 2007 Tahoe for one week now and the only thing I noticed that may not be set right from the dealer is the air pressure in the tires. I got the 17" standard tires which are Bridgestone Duellers. According to the DIC, the air is 37 PSI in each one. The tires look like they can handle up to 44. I would like to ge a little bit better mileage and I am thinking 7 PSI below max is alot. What is everyone else using for normal driving?
P.S. The spare is a Goodyear Wangler but the others are Bridgestone. Strange?

GM recommends 32 psi .. Read the sticker/notice on the driver's door. ... All manufactors & companies are very concerned about liability! .. Especially with tires after the Ford Explorer & Firestone FIASCO! .. They are also concerned about comfort and good ride. .. I have the same combination of tires as you have and I'm using 40 psi in front and 38 in the rear and I'm very satisfied with that combination. .. I think 44 psi is to high unless you have a very heavy load or trailer tongue weight to compensate for. .. Remember to adjust air pressure to the correct psi .. ONLY on 'COLD TIRES' .. No big deal IMO on the brand for the spare tire. .. How many people do you think actually rotate the spare onto the vehicle.

Love my new Tahoe and want to get opinions from others who feel the same. I currently have black license plate frames on my Tahoe. What do you guys think would look better chrome or black? I know i have too much time on my hands but i want the Tahoe to look perfect.

Curtailment up-date by junglegeorge

Curtailment up-date for all you that may be waiting for delivery. As I previously stated, I was on the phone with Chevy customer service yesterday, they have confirmed that if you do not have a build date prior to May 15, 2006 availability of the following items will delay production for at least 30 additional days:

1. ASF – Head Curtain Side Air Bag
2. UVC – Rear Camera
3. UVB – Nav Radio (forces rear entertainment system DVD)
4. U3U – Nav Radio – (not compatible with rear entertainment system DVD)
5. UD7 – Rear Park Assist
6. RCS – 20 inch Chrome Wheels

Looks like it is going to be a long summer, I ordered my LTZ on 4/11/06 figure it took the dealer 5 days to get the order in the system, it is very unlikely that it will be picked up for production and assigned a build date by 5/15/06.

I will wait patiently, this is my 3-vehicle purchase from this dealer, he treats me very well, gave me a great deal, far below anything I have been able to find locally in Albany NY, on this or any other site. He is a hungry mid-size dealer in Vermont, I actually have to travel 2 hours to his location, but it is well worth the trip. If you are contemplating a purchase in the north east, I strongly suggest you contact at Hand Chevrolet – Volkswagen in Manchester Vermont.

Waffeling on Tahoe purchase by car44

I have driven every car/suv out there at least TWICE now, including the new 2007 Tahoe. I have read every car mag, consumer reports review, online article, every Edmunds post, ... again on every SUV out there. And i really like the Tahoe. My fallback car is a Highlander, which has all the pizazz of a vanilla shake, but its about 7/8 grand less and has great consumer reports reviews (quality, dependability, ... lots of sold red dots). With the Tahoe, i'm freaking out about a couple things:

1) Gas mileage

Watching the price of gas jump 30-50 cents in a month, with talk of it being $4/gallon this summer makes me reconsider. I see that people are reporting anywhere from 12 to 19 mpg w/ the Tahoe. Driving 16,000 miles a year at $3/gallon, thats a $3428 a year or $285/month avg, assuming 14 miles to a gallon. At $4/gallon, that comes to $380/month. Good googly. When i compare that to say 20 miles a gallon for a Highlander, it comes to $200/month 3/gal or $266/month 4/gal. A $1000 or $1300 a year diff between the two.

2) Prior chevy owner experience

Waaaaaay back in the day i had a '88 Chevy Blazer. Horrific and expensive maintenance experience. And in retrospect, the reliability was confirmed by lots of black dots on the consumer reports reviews for that car. I had sworn off US cars at that point.

So here i am looking at another Chevy that i had sworn off. And it happens to be a first year production run at that. I think the HL is a tad small and very plain, but with decent mpg and cheaper. The Tahoe a bit big, but a real nice ride... with an unknown maintenance record. Having said all that, do you have any advice for this pillar of indecision?

I'm not familiar with where everyone is, but here is a dealer that is selling '07 Tahoes, Yukons and Denali's at near invoice. You can browse their on-line inventory and pricing at www.SierraMotors.net. This is in North-Central California.
