using anything more than 87 octane is a complete waste of $ - provides ZERO benefit unless engine is tuned for high octane. ZERO performance benefit. but i bet the only harm it could cause is more difficult cold-starts.
maybe it's worth it for some folks to burn high-octane in their Tahoes just for the placebo effect !

For those that have installed these or had them installed, does yours fit snug to the bumper? I had the dealer install one today, the bottom is tight but the top is approximately 1" away from the bumper.

GM doesn't need me to say it, but IMHO the '07 Tahoe is a homerun. Looks, handling, mileage, etc. etc. For what people buy them for and do with them, they can't be beat. I say this as a Porsche Cayenne owner who while I love the Porsche wished he could also have a good '0l American SUV that you could throw sacks of lime into at Home Depot, drive on absolutely rotten days and not worry about some clown hitting you, and if you used Mobil1 with regular oil changes run it out to 150K before you dumped it. Resale? Who cares, you are going to USE it up.

It does seem to me though that the average price paid for a loaded Tahoe just went up from maybe 31K to 41K after all the pushing and shoving is over with.

They drilled the holes too close to the outside of the bumper. I installed mine and did the same thing. The drill pattern that comes with it is about one cm off!

They can't re-drill the holes further back now in the same place. I tried "rigging" mine and broke one of the plastic attachments off. So much for my 80 bucks!

They might be able to drill new holes in both the cover holder and the bumper.

So....... until Chevrolet admits the install template is wrong, I have a color keyed flapper to cover my trailer hitch? At least yours was only $80! They charged me $40 to install it.

Hey rat55...I had posted this exact question just a few posts back. My facia is also very flimsy and loose fitting almost to the point of where it doesn't look like the top part is attached into the brackets. I too had mine installed by my dealership and total cost was $118.00!!

I took the truck back this morning to show it to my service tech and he said that that's the way it's supposed to be. I'm kind of getting tired of their "excuses" so maybe when I get their Customer Service Survey I'll really let them have it this time.

Think I'll print out the comments here on the forum about the pattern being off slightly and take it down to them...They better fix it and fix it right or they may be starting to deal with an "unhappy" customer.

I installed mine myself using the template and mine has a gap of about 1/2 inch on top. I thought i had messed up but if the teplate is wrong maybe i didnt. If i had it installed at the dealer i would definetely complain, they should know how to install it the right way.

Looks like the template is wrong for everyone!

So if anyone else is considering installing the rear fascia, make sure you (or the dealer) installs it about a half-inch back toward the vehicle than what the template shows.

I tried Shell's VPower premium in one tank last month in my 06 Tahoe 2wd Z71. For reasons I don't understand, my milage went down 10%. I know there are many variables, but I typically top-off my tank so I know I'm comparing apples and apples. I divide miles by fuel and check it every tank. I get low to mid 15's with regular and got 14.3 with the high dollar Shell. Go figure, but I'm back on regular. For the record, I think these trucks get amazingly respectable milage. I drove a Toyota minivan (2001) for 18 months trying to be PC. The darn thing maybe got a mile per gallon better than a Tahoe (nevermind the lofty promises on the Toyota MPG window sticker.) I love these darn trucks.

ps. my wife's 04 Lexus RX330 that weighs 10%+ less gets almost 20% better milage but with premium fuel. If you do the math the costs difference is tiny. Pound for pound the Tahoe is more efficient (driven conservatively as I do).

I'm not sure I can explain this in words (I could draw a picture tho) but will try. The top brackets (connected to the bumper) have a square key slot that hold the top of the cover in place. Seems to me, the raised part of the tabs need to be closer to the cover, so the top part of the cover is held closer to the bumper. I'm thinking about gluing a small stop on the upper tabs. Moving the lower holes doesnt seem right. In terms of a radius, I would think that would pull the top of the cover further away from the bumper
