First Bulletin on my Tahoe by 07tahoeguy

Went into the dealership to drop off and leave my 2007 Tahoe, LT2, 4x4, for the following:
1) Misfitting for plastic piece that fits between the windshield and dash;
2) Rattle above the driver's head;
3) XM radio kits off, displays "Not Available" on radio, and then changes to standard FM radio channel;
4) Plastic "L" channel around the two back doors coming loose;
5) Engine has vibration or is making "growling" sound in 4 cyclinder mode;
6) Air escapes from around the two rear doors and around the rear seal on the rear window when fan and aux fan is on max or when I use the remote start.

While giving the dealer service guy my laundry list, he stated there is a service bulletin recall to update the HVAC computer control chip. (First I heard of that) They did not mention it last week when I had an oil change, so it must be new. Here is a list of what they did to the tahoe or what they told me. The list will be in the same order as my complaints.

1) They removed the plastic dash peice and refit it;
2) Headliner was improperly installed in the factory, they had to fix the insulation and reinstall it;
3) On going radio problem, GM is working on a firmware fix and will send out a service bulletin when they fix it;
4) Glued the top pieces back on, cross my fingers and hope that works LOL;
5) GM bulletin states that noise/vibration is normal and is to be expected. When the engine goes from 8 to 4 cylinders or vice versa, the harmonics change thus causing the vibration/growl noise. GM has no plans to fix it, basically told me to live with it;
6) Check it and stated that air escaping is normal due to overpressure in the interior of vehicle. According to dealership, all 12-14 other Tahoes on their lot do the same thing so it must be okay, I am going to revisit this at a later date, not happy with their answer.

No clue what the HVAC computer change did, but GM said to do it, so they did.

P.S. Before anyone asked my radio is a non-nav, Boses speaker, 6 disc changers with XM.

Correction: GM claims the noise is due to the harmonics of the exhaust which changes when the vehicle goes from 4 to 8 cylinders and vice versa.

07tahoeguy,

FYI: just had the HVAC computer recall completed last week. Dealer said the fix was needed because if the outside airtemp was at or below 32 degrees, the airconditioner/defrost wasn't allowed to start. After the reprogramming - now the A/C is allowed to work.

Just thought I would post a few thinks abount my 2007 Tahoe LTZ.The build date was 3/6/07 we just happened to be on the dealers lot when it was unloaded off the truck on 3/13/07 it was exactly what I wanted. The dealer had approx 54 in stock.
  One of the things that I need to discuss is the Nav/Bose/Rear DVD system I have been told that it has the Bose Center Point Surround Sound and Digital Signal Processing but I have not been able to access it. I know how to access it but it's not there.I'm running out of people to call or ask.Any help would be appreciated.
  Also when the transmission is in 4th gear and the torque converter clutch is engauged I feel a harsh vibration when the engine goes thru the rpm of 1200 to 1400. Speed does'nt matter its only in that rpm range.
  I love driving it,think it's an exceptional veh

                                 Thanks

Check around and you will find that to be a good deal....This stuff covers both mirrors several inches up on the hood area, Headlights, foglights, and all front end that is exposed paint areas. Comes with a lifetime warranty and just try putting it on yourself...Looks great and cannot event tell its there. Well worth the price to protect the front end....I heard from an owner that had this previous on his car and when traded in 5 years later pealed off without rock chips and look new

rear suspension by auto9999

This is not a major thing but I tend to watch how the bottom of the vehicle looks from behind. Today I was driving behind a 2007 Tahoe and I noticed that the rear suspension structure was showing several thin metal bars and I had a concern that they may corrode in several years. Am I worrying too much, or is it a legitimate concern?

it seems that a 'red flag' should go up when anytime the dealer puts a additional sticker on the window next to the MSRP sticker...for some such wasted items... or gets you into their room of doom with the finance guy... anything after the initial sale price agreed upon is profit big time for them...

Not to worry ... My 2000 Tahoe that I recently traded for the '07' Tahoe had NO significant corrosion or rusting problems! ... That included some time spent in the Snow & Salt of upstate NY.
