I did what seabyrd suggests using the hairdryer and goo gone. Instead of a spatula I used fishing line after heating the tape behind the emblem. Used it like dental floss and just moved it up and down as I slid it between the emblem and the truck. Once the emblems and letters were off used the goo gone to remove the rest of the stuff. Just keep at it, can take alot of patience to get the residue off. I have no emblems or letters at all and love the look

I took mine to a body shop to have my gold bowtie removed from the back and the emblems taken off. It was $120 for all. They had to take off the piece that the bowtie is fastened to and fill the holes and then repaint it. It looks GREAT!! Well worth the money. No lettering or emblems looks sleek. No bowtie makes ties the whole look together. In the past, my dad has used the hairdryer and fishing line with great success. But hey, I'm a girl!!

Honeycomb Grill? by chile96

Anybody know where I can get the chrome honeycomb grill? I've seen it on a few tahoes so I think it may be a factory option with a bunch of other chrome stuff(door handles, side view mirrors) but all I'm interested in is the two grill pieces. My current one has chrome trim but the honeycomb is black. See below for pics:

I believe this may be what you are looking for >>> http://gmaccessoriesstore.com/grille-package-chrome-surround-silver-grille-bowti- e-logo-p-1611.html

There are options to match the grill to the paint color on your Tahoe, or you can purchase the chrome one.

The version you show in the picture above looks like the LTZ Chrome package that includes door handles, grill and mirror covers.

Good luck.

I have an 07 Avalanche LTZ with the same driver side mirror problem. The mirror shaked so I had the dealer replace it. The replacement shakes too and worse the glass is wavy so it distorts the rearward view especially at night with reflecting headlights. Annoying. Calling the dealer this morning to schedule another try. FYI Chevy sells after market color matched mirror cover kits for around $70 for left and right mirrors. I bought the Summit White set, color code 50U. Go to http://www.gm.oeaccessories.com/Home/.

You can pop the (poorly) painted one off and snap this one on in a few minutes. Look just like new. Not sure why the dealer can't use these rather than painting them. I am waiting to see if the dealer can get an acceptable replacement mirror before I pop the good one on.

To greggboston: Dealer says it's normal. Right, normal for a defective, badly designed part.

Regards,

Rob

Hey everyone,

I have a couple of things you can tell people when they complain to you that you are contributing to the distruction of the world by using poor gas mileage cars.

First, I'm sure a lot of us have the flex fuel option. This is great, a renewable fuel source that comes from our own country. A win win situation.

Second, the new active fuel management makes the Tahoe and Yukon one of the best fuel efficient full size SUVs there is.

For us family people, we know... its either a big car at 15 mpg or two smaller cars a 22 mpg (umm that comes down to 11mpg overall for one trip)... Ever try fitting, two adults, two children in car seats, strollers, diaper bag, toys, snacks and all of the other stuff for the kids in a small car... then try going to the store...

I'm sure there's a lot of us out here that bought the Tahoe/Yukon because of its fuel management systems. Great job on helping to reduce fuel problems...
