I test drove an '07 Yukon Denali overnight, and was surprised the nav unit could not play single-sided DVD-R's I've burned and finalized. It would start off playing one frame every 10 seconds or so, and when skipping to a chapter it would only play a few seconds and stop. Store-bought DVD's seemed to play fine. Does the nav unit only handle double-sided DVD's? Thanks.

Replying to: macman246 (Mar 22, 2007 12:28 pm) Also, there is no such thing as double sided DVDs in the sense I think you mean. Double sided DVD's are typically used for different film formats. DVDs you burn are either single layer or dual layer, giving you 4.7GB or 8.5GB of storage, but layers are only on one side. They don't come 2 sided... at least that I've ever seen. Joe |

This and the included software lets me create DVD compliant video data that I use a separate software package (Nero) to burn onto the discs. 2) VHS VCR connected directly to a standalone Philips DVDR 3400 DVD recorder. This recorder works a whole lot like a regular VCR. So it's pretty simple- select the input source, set the recording quality (analogous to setting the recording speed for VHS to get more / less on a tape- does the same thing for the DVD+R discs), start the source, hit record, finalize the disc when done. Number 2 is my current method, because it's just so much easier and less time consuming than using the PC path, with far fewer variables involved. If I have something that I want much greater creative control over (menu structures, home video editing, etc.) I'll still use the PC though. So far all the discs I've attempted to play back in the Avalanche were created using the Philips recorder. I have no reason to doubt that the PC created discs will work just as well though- my wife's Terraza plays discs from either equally well. Also, the discs themselves seem to make more of a difference than the tool used to make them (as long as the tool is making DVD compliant discs). For example, I started out the whole DVD-backup thing by experimenting with different types of media. I've used -R, -RW, +R, and +RW, and tried different brands of each. The brand sometimes has made a difference, but far less than the type of disc itself. In my own experience the -R and -RW discs haven't played as well in the van (again, haven't repeated this test with the Av since I settled on +R discs). +RW discs worked fine, but since I wanted to make permanent copies I've reserved the rewritables for use as data discs for my computers.

Hello everyone, I have been a Subaru owner for some years now due to my long commutes. I will be working from home full time now and have always had my eye on the Tahoe. There are some good used deals here in NH as I am only looking to spend AT MOST $30k. This would be my first ever American car/truck purchase so I need to start off slowly  I just want to get people's idea of something like a 2004 Z71 for around $26,000. Also, is Chevy REALLY DISCOUNTING the 2007's lately?

When I was at the local dealer having my tires rotated for the first time (10,000 miles)I picked up the new 2007 Tahoe sales literature and noticed that GM has upgraded the center console cup holder material to match the dash (Wood tone). The unit has two small doors that cover the entire area. I thought it look nice and inquired as to the cost to get the new version. Gulp, to my surprise or shouldn't I have been.. the cost was $700. You can't buy just the cupholder piece, you have to purchase the entire console. Adding in the cost of dealer installation would have been to steep of a price to pay for the upgrade. Has anyone else inquired about this part and what prices were you quoted?

Small accident on my YUKON 07’ “rear bumper”. Al sensors were not affected except the first on the right rear. It was not broken but the wire inside was almost damaged; service park assist was on the drive information center (DIC). I fixed the wire but still the same message. How could I know that the sensor is ok or not? Do I have to change all the sensors? Does it need to reprogram? Please help. The local lousy dealer said maybe I need to change all the rear sensors and might need to change other sensors somewhere inside the car. Hoping for your kindly assistance
