" If you thought the 5.3L wasn't adequate, I don't know if a 6spd is going to change your opinion. The six speed will have one gear lower than the current four and one more OD gear. It will be a little quicker off the line but it will still be a mid-range dog as the middle gears will essentially be unchanged. If you want more power, get a suburban and order the 6.0L

| I've had my 2007 Tahoe now for almost 8 months. I have a wee bit over 25,000 miles on it. 80% of that is highway mileage. The best long distance mileage I've seen is about 19.5 MPG on a trip from New York to Florida and back. I made the same trip in my '96 Yukon several times and averaged as good as 24.8 MPG. I was able to go almost 600 miles on a tank of regular gas. Both vehicles have the same 350 CI engine and they also had the same rear end axel ratio. So.. My question is.. why did I get so much better gas mileage on the Yukon?? When I sold it, it had 143,000 miles on it.. Could it be my '07 Tahoe isn't really broken it yet?? Maybe I can expect better mileage after 50,000 miles?? What do you all think??? Steve | |
