I'm came of an 02 Tahoe to my now 07 Denali XL of 2-3 months. Rate the truck a 8 out of 10 and overall very happy.

My gripes:

Little low on power during acceleration, obviously its a size issue but my tahoe had the 4.10 gears or something and acceleration was a lot more instant feeling compared to the Denali's even though it has a larger engine.

No storage compartments. How about a place for the rear seat headphones? How about a CD or DVD holder, sunglass holder, coin holder? How about "ANY" storage compartments in the back? It's borderline criminal.

No unlock button for the doors at the tailgate anymore.

Some driveline clunk while going 5-10 mph in parking lots.

Some piston slap or similar noise when engine is cold.

CD's can not be played up front while a DVD is playing (at least with Nav system).

Fake wood is so glossy is shows scratches easily. They polish out easily with Mothers plastic polish though.

Floor matts are the thinest I've ever seen, and this is a $50K vehicle?

Overall a huge improvement, but there are some things I miss that were on the old truck. Hoepfully they address some of these in future releases as some like the lack of storage are laughable.

I came up with nearly the same list for my Avalanche. Since I have the 4.10 rear end it seems snappy enough off the line though (way more than the 04 Silverado w/3.73s). I also haven't noticed any piston slap, but I have had the driveline clunk. Everything else is pretty much spot on, as I guess it should be, given that the front 1/2 of the two vehicles is nearly identical, and the back lower portion is the same as the Suburban. I bought Catch-All carpeted mats for in the Av, but not because the factory mats seemed thin to me (never really considered them much at all- factory mats haven't ever been all that impressive to me).

Thanks for the tip on the plastic. I've used a plain wet towel (water only) to wipe smudges and such off, then followed up with a dry towel to prevent the inevitable water spots on the gloss. But until your post I hadn't seen anyone mention how to deal with those scratches. (My wife's van has the same type of "wood" and already has a couple I can use this to take care of! )

Dear Host I posted early this morning about what a wonderful experience I had with a Dealer here in N. VA and how great my particular Salesman was. Did you remove my post? If so could you repost with out Salesman's name. I was really just trying to share with everybody the great sales and service experience I had. People need to know about the good dealers out there. I would know I used to sell Jeeps, but made a career change and haven't looked back.

Sincerely,
twernst10

Please check your email. I can't repost for you but the message was sent to you for editing. Per the Rules of the Road link on the left, we frown on posting names of individuals because we wind up with shill posts and fake testimonials. Posting dealer names and location is fine.

I didn't know you used to sell Jeeps - there are a few ex-salespeople around the discussions.

I need to replace front rotors and don't know what the torque specs are for caliper and if their are any specific instructions on which bolt to tighten first.

Thanks Dave....I would have gone on for years quietly complaining to myself about that one. I didn't realize it would do that. Another delightful suprise.....

Thanks 07denali for your experience and tips on dealing with plastic scratches in the trim. My 2002 Denali had a lot of power, and the 2007 is still so new (380 miles) that I am not ready to really get on it.
I hear you on the storage......
I have not heard the driveline clunk or the piston slap, but I will now be on the lookout for it.
DVD & CD...obviously a pain...does anyone know if there is an IPOD interface available yet? I know I can plug it in, but I want to use the stereo controls.
Floor mats....I want a thick carpeted mat, along with a cargo mat, and a full length mat for my bench 2nd row. however I ordered the Lloyds carpet sample from Stylin Concepts and the colors didn't match with the Ebony. Any suggestions?
Thanks
