Thanks to the help of this forum, I negotiated the following deal in Aug. 2007:

2008 Volvo XC90
-Premium Pkg
-Climate Pkg
-Versatility Pkg
-Metallic Paint
MSRP $43,350
Cap Cost $38,226
Residual $26,443

24 month lease with 15k miles per year
$500/month.
$821.36 total due at signing which was inclusive of SC sales tax of $300

Well 24 months has come and gone and now it's time to decide if I should buy the car or not. My question is this, can I negotiate with Volvo Finance on the payoff amount ($26443)? So far, they have indicated that they will not negotiate. If not, would I be better off trying to buy a used XC90 from scratch? My wife loves the car, but after reading recent posts, I can't help but feel like I can get a better deal on an 08 XC90 similarly equipped. Oh, and I'm under the miles so that doesn't factor in. Thanks for any thoughts/suggestions!

Hey mel10021. Here's the info that you're looking for. Volvo Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 XC90 3.2 AWD 7 Passenger with 10,000 miles per year are .00301 and 45%, respectively.

You probably will be better off leasing this truck through an independent bank and taking advantage of the special $4,250 cash incentive for leases of it through any bank other than Volvo Finance.

Hi leasecruncher. Unfortunately, I only keep tabs on the lease programs for manufacturers' captive finance companies. I have not seen US Bank's current program for the XC90. Sorry that I could not be of more help.

Buy your car. You aren't gonna get an 08 XC90 with good miles for $26k.

Thanks. I have a 2008 that comes off in 6 months. Will they ever let me roll out early to move inventory? I was told to try in the fall with about 3 months left??

Thanks

Residuals and Money Factors for XC90 by tredvr6

I'm considering leasing an 09 Volvo XC90 3.2 AWD 7 passenger SUV. I've determined a fair purchase price based on the Edmunds invoice price and available incentives, however, I cannot find any information on the residual values and money factors. I'd like to lease for 42 to 48 months and be allowed 15k miles per year.

Can anyone help with Volvo's RV's and MF's for July?

Hi tredvr6. Unfortunately, Volvo appears to have stopped providing lease support on the XC90 this month. This is an unusual move because Volvo almost always has lease support on this model. If you really want to lease an XC90 3.2 AWD 7 passenger right now, you will have to do so through an independent bank. Volvo is currently providing a special $5,000 cash incentive on leases of this truck through banks other than Volvo Finance.

Would this $5000 cash incentive be in addition to other available incentives? My research indicates there are the following discounts available

$3245 price reduction on 7 passenger model
$500 Volvo Allowance
$1500 Owner Loyalty (we own an S40)
$1500 NEA discount (my wife is an NEA member)

Is it possible that the total discount available on a lease through an independent bank is $11295?!?!

I'm looking at a similar combination of packages - but I just went thru the Edmunds pricing and clicked on incentives and rebates - I'm not seeing the $3245 discount or the $1500 Volvo loyalty. Is that a regional thing that is based on your zipcode? The only one that showed up for me was the $500 allowance.

Have you gotten any prices yet from a dealer? If you get a quote for purchase versus lease, I hope you'll post it. I'm at $37000 (not including tax/tag) for AWD, 3.2, with prem,. versatility (so 7 passenger) and climate. I'm thinking that's not as good as it ought to be. Maybe my dealer has not already factored in the Volvo loyalty - I'll ask and let him know I assume he hasn't.

Thanks.
