That's absolute insanity. You could probably get close to two of a lot of comparable cars for that payment.

Oh yeah - may three or small fords. But on the last two years we beat the market or shall we say Volvo lost on the suv. Car is worth about $22-23K on trade and the residual is $38K. If you purshased the car on a 60 loan you spent with payments and down payment approx. $29k over 24 months and you still owe $27K for a car that is worth 24K max. At that time the 2007 lease made sense but we probably did not know that at that time.

Hi nikjreece. $8,500 below dealer invoice and the use of a .00240 money factor to calculate your XC90's payment is indeed a very good deal for this model right now. Of course, one can debate whether this vehicle is worth $650 per month (in my opinion it's not) but this is probably about as good as it is going to get for this lease.

Hi Bob. Here's the information that you're looking for. Volvo Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 24 month lease of a 2009 XC90 V8 with 15,000 miles per year are .00146 and 48%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 36 month lease are .00200 and 41%.

My wife likes the XC90 but I think for that payment you could drive a Mercedes GLK or Audi Q5. I want her to drive what she likes but I'm going to do my darndest to steer her away from the XC90.

I'm in a very similar situation. My 24 month lease expires at the end of August and I have:

2008 XC90 V-8
MSRP: $52k
Sale Price: $45,700
Resid: 64%
MF: 0.6%
15,000 Miles/year
~$1,500 down for start-ups.
ZERO Cap Cost Reduction!

$599/month including 9% PA Tax

My buyout is ~$33k but Volvo has agreed to adjust the buyout and bundle it with a CPO warranty and convert the lease to a used car CPO -buy. If the numbers work I'll do it since my wife LOVES her XC90. Otherwise, we're getting a Cayenne S for about $800/month for a 36-month lease, nothing down, 15k miles, and it stickers for $70k!

Believe me, the days of great leases seem to be over for now.

-Mark
