Wolfsburg Passat 2.0T vs Jetta 2.0T by crokerd

This is my first time with VW. I am currently debating between a 07 Wolfsburg Passat 2.0T and a Jetta 2.0T with Package 1. Passat's price is 27,815 with a lease for 48 mos 494.00 including tax. The Jetta's price is 25,595 for a lease of 48 mos for 455.00 including tax. Does this sounds like a good deal? Any comments between this two cars? I have been a BMW driver for the last 10 years and I was impressed by how these two cars drove.

Thanks

Car_man,

Are the lease rates posted above in response to "spott" still valid for April? Also are the cash incentives still valid? Looking to trade my lease in early(have 2 months remaining) and get another Passat, Wolfsburg model specifically and the incentives would make it very attractive.

Thanks.

crokerd, those numbers seem high to me for payments. Are you rolling any amounts into the lease, negative equity etc?

Do a search on google for a lease calculator and plug in amounts that you know along with some of the money factors and residuals that are given a few posts up to see what that gives you.

I am thinking(best guess) for the Passat you should be closer to $400 and the Jetta should be closer to $325. Now, those are very rough estimates and just something I plugged into a spreadsheet without knowing all of the particulars of your deal.

What the dealer gave me was $1500 VW loyalty and $750 cash incentitive for the Passat. All ad's I've seen indicate $1500 was for existing Passat owners, Dealers says for any VW owner. I also have an 07 Jetta.

Hello.

I'm interested in a 2007 Passat 2.0t auto. with luxury package 2.

I received a price of 331 usd a month
and a total down of 2000 usd, includes all fess and taxes OTD. 48 month lease, 10000 miles a year.

A few questions how is the price?

What is the residual value and MF for a 48 month, 10,000 miles a year lease?

Also is there a 3000 dollar incentive for the dealer on this car, like I read in the buyers forum, and can it be used for a lease?

Thanks

Hi hellison63. The first thing that I noticed about this deal is the huge down payment that you are considering making. It definitely is not a good idea to put so much money down on a lease. Consumers who make large capitalized cost reductions on leased vehicles risk losing them if their car or truck is totaled in an accident or stolen and never recovered. You would be better off keeping this $6,000 in the bank earning interest and using it to supplement your monthly payment or to make a number of your payments.

You never mentioned the selling price of the car that you are interested in leasing. This is an important number for you as a consumer to know for two reasons. First, the selling prices of leased vehicles can be negotiated, just as if you were paying cash for them. Without knowing the price of the car that you want to lease you don't know how good a price you are getting it for. The second reason is that one needs the selling price of a vehicle that they want to lease is that it is necessary to calculate its lease payment. I would be more than happy to give you my opinion of this deal if you let me know what its selling price is.
