Thanks from me too. It seems I can't get a better offer than 289 including everything (MD taxes, fees). I guess I will turn in the car and be done with VW for a while, esp having to deal with the arrogance of some dealers is annoying me. One quote was "VW can afford to not lower its prices because we have premium customers who are not losing their jobs, unlike Honda and Toyota". Hmmkay, that's why they are discounting the Golf in Germany with over 30% these days.

sorry to hear you are having to deal with some less than great dealers in your area. An SE or SEL for $289 (all incl) doesnt sound bad to me. As others have said on here, hard to estimate every areas taxes n fees...but my $245 lease came to $289 once taxes n fees etc were added in for NYC...

Hey guys, my girlfriend has been wanting to get into a Jetta and she wants to lease. So far, this is the best we've been able to get:

09 Jetta S "California Edition" (17" anthracite-looking wheels, Bluetooth, spoiler)

$239/mo w/taxes included
$2500 down
15,000 mi
(What's the invoice + holdback on this bad boy? Would it be too aggressive to negotiate price to invoice as a start for the lease?)

She is a new college grad with good, but short, credit.

I don't have the money factor or residuals, but hopefully this is enough to work with. We're in San Diego and would be willing to drive for a great deal.

Is this a decent deal? Should we be working on an SE instead of the California edition (is there more room to negotiate)? Is there any way to put less down?

I think I have seen SE models going for this much.... why so much money down?
Always start with a good price, $0 down!, get the deal, then if you "need" to have a lower payment on a lease, well then offer it. $2,500 on a VW lease is high. I pay $330mth for my 08 Jetta SE $0 Down!

Car_Man, wondering if lease numbers for a Jetta SE 12,000 miles/3 years are still .00101 and 54%

I Just got a really high lease quote on such a car and wanted to check my math.

Thanks!

Hi ympsi. The most important numbrs to focus on when leasing are your vehicle's selling price and the money factor that the dealer is using to calculate its monthly payment.

Let us know what the selling price of the Jetta is in relation to its MSRP or dealer invoice price and I'm sure that either myself or another knowledgeable community member will be happy to let you know what they think.

As far as the money factor goes, VW Credit's current buy rate lease money factor for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Jetta Sedan S is .00117. Make sure that the dealer that you are working with uses that factor to calculate your payment.
