That sounds like an amazing deal actually. The sunroof and alloys adds about $2000 on invoice. I ended up getting $245/month with no money down (taxes, TTL & acquisition fees, everything rolled in). If you are getting a true sign-then-drive, you are effectively getting about:

$1500 (what I got) below invoice
+ $500 (approximately the amount from $245 ->$230/month)
+$2000 (in options - ~$1200 for alloy rims, and ~$800 for sunroof)
= $4000 below invoice...

If you can get that deal, I would jump on that in a second...

Btw, have been driving the car for about 1 week so far. I am quite pleased with it. The handling is still superior to a Civic (I didn't test drive the Si), Altima, and Mazda 3i. The shock absorption is definitely inferior to the A4. The pick up in speed is similar to the A4 (less torque, but with a manual transmission, it's "MY MODE" all the time as opposed having to shift to "sports mode" )

Overall, quite happy with the purchase decision and very happy with the purchase at Big Apple VW in NY (Bronx area).

Thanks Carman. It is definitely a good car considering many of the options are included in this base model (heated seats are a must!), power windows, door locks, heated mirrors, etc.

The price is not as good as I'd hoped because of the poor MF, but given the amount of discount the dealers gave on this car, I think the overall price of the car was acceptable, and saving $210/month is definitely good in this economy!

Ended up being $258 a month with everything rolled in, including a trade in I was probably $1000-1500 upside down on. Got the rims and sunroof and everything, really didn't need that stuff, but my wife needed a car, and that's just how it ended up working out. Overall, wish it had ended up being closer to 230, but considering the trade in and my credit I'm not terribly upset.

Would have rather had the Rabbit though...

Hmm. with a trade-in also? I guess that would depend on how much your trade in is worth. If it's around 2k, then I guess you paid just slightly more, but then again, the MF would vary based on credit score.

Anyway, congrats on your new purchase! I have been driving my car for about a week now and really like it so far!

'09 Jetta S lease by elrick

I just signed a 39 month lease on a '09 Jetta S w/ the following extras: floor mat package, chrome grill, and alloy wheels. I also got the wear and tear package. The MSRP was close to $19,000.
My monthly payments are $337. w/15K miles/year. I did the sign and drive, so no down, no trade-in...etc The dealer even paid for the tax, title, and license. Seems from the previous post I've read, I may be paying too much, but I from the few lease post I read I didn't see anyone that paid the extra for the wear and tear package. Can anyone help me to relieve my anxiety?

Hi polyvw. Here's the information that you're looking for. VW Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 Jetta SE Sedan with 12,000 miles per year are .00119 and 57%, respectively.

Hi renssny. the easiest way to evaluate a lease is to look at the selling price that it is based upon. The selling prices of leased vehicles are negotiable, just as if you were financing or paying cash for them. It is difficult to tell how much of a dealer discount you are being given on the Jetta that you're interested in without knowing what its selling price is in relation to its MSRP or its dealer invoice price. Let us know what these numbers are and I'm sure that either myself or another helpful community member will gladly give you their opinion of this deal.

Hi elrick. Congratulations on getting your new Jetta. The best way to evaluate a lease is to look at the selling price that it is based upon in relation to its MSRP. You should be able to get both of these numbers off of your paperwork. Post them here and I'm sure that either myself or another helpful community member will be happy to tell you what they think.
