Hi macrodarden. VW Credit is currently offering 3.9% financing for 3 years, 4.9% for 4 years, and 5.9% for 5 years on the 2009 Jetta. This is the lowest that dealers can offer on this car. They aren't making money other than a small flat fee and whatever gross they make on your car for signing you up at these rates.

Wolfsburg has a 2.0T turbo engine in it so you have to use Premium. The SEL is the top of the line Jetta so that is the one that has all of the bells and whistles (leather, etc.) Personally I like the look of the SEL better.....not a big fan of the old school Jetta whip antenna on the top of the car.

Done deal, purchased a 2009 Jetta Wolfsburg in CT. Fresh off the boat, 11 miles on odometer, 6 Speed manual, black/anthracite, wolfsburg package, only add-on is spoiler. Final negotiated price $21,530 including all dealer fees and registration (not including tax). MSRP $22,474 and they wanted $160 DMV and $299 conveyance fee, which they either waived or dropped price of car to roll those into final price. So $21,530 and I was able to grab $1,000 owner loyalty making the price of the car for me in real terms of $20,530, which I was very happy about.

Hope this helps. I'd be happy to refer people if needed. Carman, should this be posted elsewhere?

leasing Jetta S manual in NY area by atsenb

Hi,

I confirmed with a dealer that the sign-then-drive promotion has been extended to 1/2/09. Has anyone been able to lease a Jetta at or below invoice (prior to any loyalty rebates or $500 manual rebate that the dealers are able to get)?

My lease is coming due in January and I will likely be leasing one in the coming month.

Also, Carman or anyone, can you confirm that the leasing rate for a 39month/10k for a Jetta S Manual 4DR is still 0.00273 MF and 61% residual?

Thanks,

I don't have specifics with me, but I just got an SE with an MSRP of $21,289 for $300/month. That's with 9% PA tax. The negotiated price was around 20000, close to or below invoice, I think. That MF and residual sound like the deal I got.

bisdamonl - what did you lease it for in terms of usagee? 39m/45k, 39m/36k, 39m/30k?

Also, did you roll everything into your lease or did you pay the $575 bank fee and the plates/DMV fees (around $150-200). The $575 adds about $15/month to the lease, the $150-200 adds about $7/month to the lease.

Assuming you leased it for 39m/30k with 61% residual and rolled the acq. and misc. fees into the payment, you basically got it for around $700-800 below invoice, which is a pretty good deal I think. If you leased it with more mileage allowance, then the deal is even better!

I believe there are also a $1000 loyalty from VW Credit and another $500 that VW is offering to the dealers if you get a manual transmission. Can anyone confirm these incentives/promotions from VW to the dealers/consumers for the tri-state area for the month of December??

Thanks,

.0030 money factor is 7.2%. That is kind of high for an interest rate, don't you think?
.0030 x 2400=7.2%

My terms were 39 months/39k miles. I paid some costs up front, something like $450. My payment before PA lease tax is $275. There was also a loyalty incentive of $1000, although I can't seem to find any mention of it on vw.com.

I agree that 0.00273x2400 = 6.55% for an interest rate is high, but if you can get the car for $1000 less than before, you are effectively getting a 4.3% interest (set the Excel model to goal seek to get the number).

So while I agree that 6%+ is high for financing rate, and if you can finance it at 0% apr, by all means, go for it. The manufacturer (and the consumer) should be indifferent to how the incentive comes along (whether it be lower money factors or lower sales price) as long as the dealers are willing to pass along that saving (I think this is the key part).
