Hi bvdj84, I paid cash-down for my car. I'm from Canada and it was such a hassle for me to get my credit approved here, so it was much easier to just pay cash. From all the research that I did though, leasing/payment options for a VW right now is really good if you have a good credit rating.

Thanks for replying! That makes me feel better. I got mine with the same options as yours. This was my first time buying a car, so I was really scared I was going to lose a lot of money to the dealers. Is the 21,500 including taxes and fees?

No unfortunately not...the price of $21,500 did not include TT&L, I have to pay that at closing, but there were no other fees.

Hi all,
For those of you discussing the new '09 Wolfsburg, I had the dealer offer $21646 invoice price (then -500 for vw loyalty) + $400 in dealer fees for a price of around $21546 excluding TTL. It's close to where I'd be happy, but is it realistic to offer $500 lower than this, financing at 5.9% for 5 years. Other option they quoted $350/mth 39mth lease, 12k miles, sign then drive. I'm undecided how i'd like to approach this, but curious what others thought of the deal.

Interesting question, jayrider. I don't think that I've gotten that one before. Well, this car's residual value is great but its money factor stinks. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, I personally would give this program around a 4.

Hi cascadejim. You can always try to get the dealer to knock a few hundred dollars more off of this car's selling price, but I personally think that this deal is about as good as you are going to get. Dealer invoice is a very reasonable price for any '09 Jetta right now.

Car_Man...thanks for your insight. I would prefer to have the Wolfsburg Jetta but as you point out, the money factors from VW credit are not agressive. I know you follow many of the markets out there, so my question is...where is the "good deal" on a 4 door sedan lease in this class? I've looked at a number of similar makes/models but haven't found anything interesting although the lease program on the Nissan Sentra 2.5S seems interesting. What's your take as to where to look?

I think everyone who cruises the leasing forums would find it useful for the moderators to come up with an opinion scale on lease values. Since there are several of you hosts that prowl these messages, you could even post best and worst deals. They seem to change as manufacturers vary the rebates- terms- etc. so a 9 this week might be a 5 next week. I think it would simplify a complicated issue and stimulate interest and discussion. So in that light ,what appears to be C-Man's best current lease deal foreign or domestic?
