I agree with the previous poster. There ain't no way that deal is legit. Maybe if you put $1,500 down.

Hey chuck and stoopy I can understand your disbelief since I couldn't believe or even understand how he got the numbers he did. But believe me it is legit and nothing would make me happier than to have you go to a Subaru dealer in the Bay Area, ask if you bring in proof will you match this price, and I will meet you and show them the copy of my lease. I would get that "match the price" promise in writing though.

So let me address your points chuck:

>>1. An Outback Special Edition doesn't MSRP for $27,754. It would literally have >>to have every accessory known to Subaru and still would be $1,500 short of >>that price.

That is what I thought too but things must have changed since Jan. The Maroni sticker on my car showed an MSRP of $26,138 but he calculated the lease on the computer at $27,754. The car has a listed package at $3 grand or so but then gives a discount1,600. I don't have the sticker in front of me so I am approximating but my guess is he added the discount onto the $26,138. Again there is a $16 deficit there which I can resolve. When I get the sticker from the car tomorrow I can give you the exact numbers.

Weird too that when I go to subaru.com I can't price out the model I have correctly.

Look at this ad that shows the Outback 2.5i SE priced at $27,754
http://ads.ocregister.com/interactive-ads/ocr/images/pdf/0009079660-01.pdf

>>2. Your residual of $14,820 is 53.39%, not 54% but either way the actual >>residual value of an SE 36 month, 15K per year is 53.0%.

The residual on the lease contract is exactly $14,820. I can show that to you

>>3. How did you get out of paying your first monthly payment? Normally you >>have to put down at least $500 in order to do that.

It was a sign and drive lease. My payment would have been $191 with 0 out of pocket but with the FICO drop it went to 201 and I paid registration plus the fees

>>4. Using the numbers you posted your payment would be around $221 not >>$201.

Here are the numbers that show on the lease:

19600-1482=4780 4780/36= 133 dep/mo
(1482+19600)*.002=68 rent/mo
133+68=201/mo + CA tax

So yes, if you include tax the payment is $220/mon

The interesting thing about the SE package is that it includes heated seats and a Harmon Kardon stereo but the climate control is analog with AC. Stereo is nice and has CD. Alloy wheels and 17" 225/55 tires are included. No leather, no dual zone climate control. Has the extended arm rest and Homelink thing on the rear view with a digital compass.

I think you had to have put down or traded around $1,500 to get this deal. That link to the ad states "36 month lease, 10K miles per year, $0 security deposit. First month’s payment, tax, title, acquisition and registration fees extra. Lease Now For Only $216 Plus tax per month for 36 months Only $999 Down!" That's $999 down, plus 1st payment ($235), plus acquisition fee ($595) = $1829.44 due at signing. There's no way you could get even $220 with zero due at signing. Like chuck said, Who did you go thru? Salesman's name and/or number?

Stoopy that was an example of an Outlook 2.5i SE with the MSRP of 27,754. I did not buy my car there. I purchase the car in San Jose,CA.

The car was brand new with 40 miles on. The model number on the Maroni was listed as 9DD

I finally had a chance to look at the Maroni sticker and the MSRP was 26,183. The listed options are auto trans (1,000) Special edition package (3,350) and then a discount on the Special Edition pacage (-1750). My guess is he added that discount back to the $26,183 to get an MSRP of $27,933 . That makes more sense now because as chuck mentioned the residual is %53 for 36mo at 15K miles (27,933*.53=1480).

If you pm me I will tell you exactly who I went to.

Including 6% sales tax the best offer I have gotten on a 2.5i SE was $237 on a 36 month/15K lease. I don't get how you were able to pull this off.

What did you mean by.....

"I finally had a chance to look at the Maroni sticker"

What's a Maroni?

How do I PM you for the dealer info?

I looked at Subaru website and there are two dealers in San Jose. I sent emails to both of them a minute ago. We'll see.

Ok I just realized this forum has no private messaging.

Let me know if you find a Forum that has PM and I will post it there. The only thing I can think of is posting the info on slickdeals as I think they have a PM system

Let me know.

From Wikipedia: "In the United States, all new automobiles are required to include an official form listing certain information about the car; this window sticker is commonly called a Monroney sticker in the industry (or simply a window sticker), named after Almer Stillwell "Mike" Monroney, the Oklahoma senator who sponsored the Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958."

You guys must be over 50. We youngsters simply refer to it as a window sticker. I've never heard of a Monroney until now.

johnuser17: Got a quote from Capitol Subaru in San Jose, $235 a month plus tax. Still not close to your $220. It'd be over $256 with tax.
