Just tell them you are discount eligible up front. The discount is off of MSRP, not off of invoice. I am not sure if it's really much, if any, more off than a knowledgeable person could get off MSRP in some circumstances. But it's good regardless of time of year, supply, etc which negotiated discounts are not. Your family member can get you a PDF of all the pricing details from the website when they get your discount number for you.

Witholding the fact that you are GMS eligible would be a total waste of your time as well as your sales rep.The General Motors price is roughly 4% below dealer invoice and is printed right on the invoice.Dealers CANNOT go below this price.They also MUST pass on to you all available dealer incentives and customer rebates.This is an audited program and any dealer who varies from it is in jeopardy of losing his participation.Bottom Line is ...there is no negotiation involved and you cannot conceivably do better price-wise

Well I was just quoted a lease rate of 495.00 including 6% sales tax, 27 months 15K/Yr for a 2007 with a MSRP of $35,120. and a sales price of $33,932. This sounds like you got a fare deal. Am I off?

Those quotes seem a little high to me, you probably have a bit more room to negotiate. They are certainly not terrible so I wouldn't expect much more off I don't think. As long as your residual is about 66% and your rate in the mid threes I think you are getting a pretty standard deal. Also, you did not say what the negotiated price of the car was, if you can get that number you can compare to Emunds TMV or similar for another point of comparison.

Invoice sounds reasonable to me. There is a 500 rebate in play as well for the 2.0T I think, but only for cars on the lot as of 10/31. Your dealer seems to be more or less in line with the standard Saab 27 mos lease 2.0T deal that Edmunds is showing for December.

Hi Dan. A base 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero has a spread of only $1,700 between its full MSRP and dealer invoice price. This isn't a whole lot of room for a dealer discount, so the discount of $2,800 that you were quoted looks pretty good to me. Just make sure that the dealer you are working with uses Saab's base lease rate of 4.25% to calculate this car's monthly payment and you're in business.
On a side note, it really is not in your best interest to make a $1,500 capitalized cost reduction on this car. Consumers can and should lease any vehicle that they are interested in without making any sort of cap cost reduction. the main reason that I say this is that if your leased vehicle is totaled in an accident or stolen and never recovered, any cap cost reduction that you made on it essentially disappears.
It would be easier for me to give you my opinion of the second deal that you mentioned if you would provide me with its MSRP and selling price.

Greetings sterki. When you say that you haven't done this before, I assume that you mean that you have never leased a vehicle before. If this is the case, you definitely should check out the following informative articles that are available here at Edmunds.com prior to visiting any dealers: 10 Steps to Leasing a New Car and Calculate Your Own Lease Payment.
You never mentioned the selling price or MSRP of the 9-3s that you are interested in leasing. These are important numbers for you as a consumer to know for two reasons. First, the selling prices of leased vehicles can be negotiated, just as if you were paying cash for them. Without knowing what these cars' selling prices are in relation to their MSRPs you don't know how much of a discount you are getting on them. The second reason is that one needs the selling price and MSRP, including the destination charge, of a vehicle to calculate its lease payment. I would be more than happy to give you my opinion of these deals if you let me know what these numbers are.
