"I am not hearing the large discounts you mention from dealers I have visited - perhaps your experience was related to the big difference between the selling price of the 911 vs Boxter?"

Actually, when I was shopping (summer/fall 2005), the 997 model 911 was "hot" and the DC area dealers were hardly dicoounting. I got a new 2005 in September, as the 2006's were incoming for $10k off MSRP from a Baltimore dealer. At that time, I was being quoted $6,000 - $7,000 off a new "leftover" 2005 Boxster S, or $5,000-$6,000 a "made to order" 2006.

Getting a good deal on a Porsche definitely requires some shopping. I'd use their "dealer locator" feature to check inventories. There may also be some leftover 2006's out there that you can negotiate a good deal on.

Lease Pricing on 07 Boxter S by gdr1

Carman, with the encouragement of Habitat 1 I negotiated the price for the 07 Boxter S, msrp of $65,665 to $57,000 including delivery. The lease quote I received for 0 Cap cost reduction 36mo/10K miles yr is $876 including NJ 7% tax. Your view on this lease would be appreciated. I expect to pick up the car on Saturday (in 3 days).

Thanks very much

Hi Fistt. The dealers that you have spoken with have been very straightforward with you about this car's lease program. Porsche Credit's current 48 month buy rate lease money factor for the 2007 Porsche Cayenne S is indeed .00320. Porsche Credit's current 48 month, 10,000 mile per year residual value for this car is 55% for models without the Tiptronic transmission and 53% for models that have it.

Hi gdr1. The problem that I have with demo vehicles is that dealers never seem to be willing to discount them enough for me to personally justify purchasing what essentially is a low mileage used vehicle over a brand new one that no one has driven before. What sort of price would you be able to get on a brand new Boxster without any miles on it? I suspect that there is a decent chance that you would be able to negotiate a very similar price on a brand new car, if not an even lower one. If so, you probably should pass on the demo.

As far as this car's lease program goes, Porsche Credit's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2007 Porsche Boxster S without the Tiptronic transmission with 12,000 miles per year are .00310 and 60%, respectively.

Wow, gdr1. Congratulations on negotiating a much better selling price. This looks like a pretty good price for this car to me. Just make sure to have the dealer use the aforementioned lease program to calculate your car's monthly payment and you're in business. Porsche Credit's 10,000 mile per year residual value is 1% higher than its 12,000 mile per year residual.

Residual Value(%) on a 2003 Boxster S by skwr

Car_Man I would appreciate your opinion on the residual value of a 2003 Boxster S that msrp'd in 2003 for $57790. I am buying the car from the original owner and it is either a case of he had a 36 month lease and paid x to keep it and wants his resid back on sale or it is a 48 month lease coming due in October and he will want his resid paid. I would like to be able to approx his resid so I know where his point of pain is. btw car has only 6000 miles....Thanks much!

Hey... did a little research... None of these posts are exactly what you are looking for, but they come close.. Just note the dates on the posts... you'll have to extrapolate from there..

One note... Are you sure he didn't do a 60 month lease, starting in October, 2002?

Thanks for looking into it. This gives me a pretty good idea. Carfax has him taking delivery on 11/13/2003 as a lease, yet on 12/04/2003 there is a "title issued or updated" line. Not clear what happened. Now that I have a number to work from I will call him to discuss. I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks again.

Usually, on Carfax, you'll get the sale date.... then another date when the final registration is done at the DMV.. So, the two entries a few weeks apart is pretty normal...

Good luck!

I am interested in a 36 month 10k miles per year lease on a 2007 Porsche Boxster non-tiptronic. Anyone know the residual and money factor.

Thanks,

Steve
