murano trim package by cassion

I'm working on a lease on an 09 Murano. CUrrently a SL model.
the Dealer offer is poor. THis is my first lease and I"m not very savvy yet, but I recognize a bad deal!
Is this a crazy thougtht...
Salesperson keeps recommeding we downgrade the car to get to where I watn to be. Simple Logic. But, can this be counterproductive? When you downgrade, do you reduce the residual as well? (edit...I just read a post that said that the SL has higher residual than the LE??)
I"m happy with an SL model (need power seats) and a premium package. I was todl that I couldnt' get the tech package wihtout all the other packages first-that that is just how they are built-liek a pyramid. Is that true? Can I get a Tech package on an SL without the leather package?
I think the money factor was .003__ something. Can I expect to get something closer to .0021? (credit is superior)
And does 39 months do anythign negative- or does it just extend the lease by a few months?
Thanks for feedback and clarifications. I'll post my negotiations and (hopefully) final deal to share with others.
My goal is a Murano with power seats, steering controls for under $500 with 18K miles and no money down.

Hi All, just drove my new Murano SL Lease home. Thanks to this forum I feel good about the experience. It took me talking with 3 dealerships, 2 at site, one by email and phone. I got what I think based on what I have read hear and elsewhere a fair deal. For a while the dealer were stuck at $520.00 with 1K down. finally today I got this offered after mentioning I was beginning to widen my search.

Black/Black Leather SL AWD,fully loaded including Nav. & Moon roof
39 months
12k miles per year
1k out of pocket
Monthly Payment $488.92
Car pirce is $33,500 off a MSRP of $38,500 (appox. don't have contract in front of me.)

I hope this helps someone else in there decision as this forum has with me. Thanks

Sounds like you got a great deal. I am looking for the exact car but without the Nav. ( I am trying to get it for about $440-450/mo.)

Do you know what the $1,000 down for for? I assume: 1st month,(489)DMV fees + what else ? I assume you rolled tax & bank fee into monthly lease paymrnt.

Thanks, Bob

Yup, 1k included first month. Your payment range was my original range without the Nav. One dealer only had a car with nav. that fit my wants and I thought it would be good to have. All fees rolled into lease. I was actually ready to let the Nav go and asked what what the price difference was. It wasn't great and they seemed to want to stay with the nav car to get it out. My portable garmin is a better Nav. unit but it is nice to have it all integrated into the car especially with the XM traffic option being displayed on the map. Good Luck

I'm in Maryland and the dealership is Jones Nissan in Bel Air. It took me about 3 weeks to work the deal. The sales guy was very nice and didn't take it personally at all. His name is Ray, you can't miss him. good luck.

Lease money rate question -- Car man or kyfdx by jayrider

If after you negotiate the best price on a murano and get the depreciation %, if you are not happy with the money rate, can the dealer make it better or does nissan dictate the factor? Example--- I say that everything looks good for a deal today but the money factor is not competitive with Bmw for instance. If they really want to make the deal and I start walking out the door, what's the chance I can improve my deal ?

Carman,
Is this a good deal or do you think residuals and mf will get better towards end of Dec. My lease is up Jan. 5, 2009 and wondering to hold off until end of year for better deal. MSRP $36,715, Sale price is $32,696. MF.00208, residual is 56% or $20,560. $1,000 total out of pocket, 39 month with 15,000 miles is $467/month. Do you think it will get better or pull trigger now? I heard it is expected to get better after Thanksgiving Holiday!!

Hi jayrider. Don't worry, it looks like you got an excellent deal. Vehicles' money factors aren't exactly negotiable. Dealers can not use lower money factors than the ones that banks publish. However they are sometimes allowed to mark money factors up to add additional, hidden profit to deals. That did not happen on your lease. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp.'s October buy rate lease money factor for the Murano was the .00239 that the dealer used to calculate your lease payment. This is as good as it was going to get.

I hear what you're saying about leasing in Illinois. The tax laws there are much worse for lessees than they are in most other parts of the country.
