Got a quote (after long negotiation) of $400 a month (with 8% tax) and $1,000 drive off. 39 months with 12k mile per year.

2008 SL V6 with Technology Package
MSRP 31,005
Invoice 28,656
Residual of 57%
Money Factor .00132

Assuming my drive off covers 1st payment and Acq fee, looks like they are rolling my license plates (about $600 in AZ) into the lease and selling the car for about $500 over invoice.

Anyone getting better or similar quotes?

There isn't a lease incentive but there is a lease special for the Altime, just not the one you are on so that doesn't help! Ok, if you were to lease it would be 24m with 12k mil/yr. Would you be covering the drive off? This is what it would look like:
24 month lease:
$401.68+tax with 12k mil/yr, $0 down, NO REBATE.

First, I want to say 'thanks' to all for sharing information here. I had never leased a vehicle and learned much here and at LeaseGuide.com. It greatly helped me understand the process and hopefully make a good deal. I negotiated & signed the following lease at Lake Manawa Nissan in Council Bluffs, IA (just across from west Omaha, NE where I live).

36 mo. / 12K mi lease on Altima 3.5 SL
MSRP = $29,315 total [$28,380 + $135 (spl gds) + $175 (flr mats) + $625 (dest.) ]
MF = 0.00122 and 59% Residual = $17,295.85
Adj Cap Cost = $27,666 which included:
($595 Acq Fee + $17 Title & Tire Fee)
This got me into a monthly payment of $342.91 w/o taxes.
At 5.5% tax where I live in NE, put me at $361.77 total monthly.
My drive off was $361.77.
They waived the security deposit ($350) due to good credit. They had a $179 doc fee but after negotiation, seems they waived that and then some (like $105 to get to the adj cap cost I wanted) so I could drive off at $342/mo.

Plus, they found the color I wanted in KC and are swapping with a dlr there at no additional cost. Feel OK about it as it seems like just under invoice.

Thx again CarMan and others.

Hi aaron1981. Different states use different methods for calculating sales tax on leased vehicles. There are three main methods of doing so (I suppose that you could say that there are four if you count the states that don't charge sales tax at all). In the first, the state taxes the payment and down payment. The last time that I looked into this, most states, including Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Connecticut, and California use this method. The second way is to tax the entire selling price of the vehicle. I believe that this is how sales tax is calculated on leases in states like Illinois, Texas, and Ohio. Lastly, some states only tax the depreciation portion of leases. This is tax is calculated on leased vehicles in New Jersey. If you tell us what state you are in, perhaps myself or another helpful community member will be able to give you an idea of how to calculate sales tax in your area.

As far as this car's lease program goes, it varies by term and mileage allowance. You never mentioned what either of these variables are, so for now I will assume that you are interested in a 36 month lease with 15,000 miles per year. Let me know if you want something different. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp.'s current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5S CVT with 15,000 miles per year are .00240 and 57%, respectively.

Welcome starscream. Since you are new, you definitely should check out the following informative articles that are available here at Edmunds.com prior to visiting any dealers: 10 Steps to Leasing a New Car and Calculate Your Own Lease Payment.

In short, the best way to get a good deal on a leased vehicle is to negotiate as low a selling price as possible and then have the dealer that gives you a price that you are happy with calculate your monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor.

Hello steevo. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp.'s April buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2008 Altima Sedan SE V6 with an automatic transmission and 15,000 miles per year are .00122 and 57%, respectively. This car's 24 month money factor is exactly the same. I haven't crunched any numbers, but I suspect that a 2 year lease of one right now would be much more expensive than a 3 year lease.

Welcome aboard, will_22. It is difficult to analyze this deal without knowing what this car's full MSRP and selling price are. These are important numbers for you as a consumer to know for two reasons. First, the selling prices of leased vehicles can be negotiated, just as if you were paying cash for them. Without knowing what this vehicle's selling price is in relation to its MSRP you don't know how much of a discount you are getting on it. The second reason is that one needs the selling price and MSRP, including the destination charge, of a vehicle to calculate its lease payment.

Negotiating a selling price that's as close to dealer invoice as possible and then having the dealer calculate your monthly payment using its buy rate lease money factor is a good way to get a great deal on a leased vehicle.
