#1632 of 2764 Trying to Lease a 2010 RX 450h - Please help
Dec 27, 2009 (7:58 am)
Let me start off by saying i have been a BMW and RR truck owner for over 20 years so when we decided on a Lexus (hybrid) I was prepared for a brand/dealer culture shift.
My experience was more than that (and I am still trying to lease a car).
I thought my request was easy to meet. a 2010 RX450h with black or blue paint, parchment interior, nav, heated seats and 19 inch wheels.
I have Tier 1 credit and structured the lease so I would put 1st month, DMV, Bank, Dealer fees upfront ($1500) and the taxes in the 36 month, 12k mile lease.
Thats it. A car with a MSRP of about $46-$47k.
What dealers in the North East offered was a $52,700 MSRP car with all the options I do not need. The price to me was anywhere from $49,100 to $50,000.
The leases they suggested were $695 a month with $2500 down ( on a car with 2500 miles) and a $639 with $3600 down. Both tossed in the mandatory interval servicing as specials.
Then, when I asked to order my car (with a nice deposit), they said no discount and I could not lock in a lease until it arrived 3-4 months later.
Not one dealer tried to look outside their own lots to help me find a car.
If someone could see if they could come up with a better deal ( I know they are out there), I would be very appreciative.
There was a recent post in this thread about a similiar car which was
Ultimately we pay with all taxes and fees a combined $590/mo for 36months. We paid a total $4,000 out of pocket. This includes all fees. This is for 15k a year lease
Be assured, i am not a tire kicker and I would sign papers immediately
I would appreciate any responses prior to Jan 4th when the residuals go down.

The RX you want probably doesn't exist. They load up the the 450h models because of demand and the extra profit those options add to the deal. The solution is easy however, just lease a non hybrid RX --- you will never save enough in fuel to come close to the bump in price of the vehicle anyway. I would be interested in why you would choose the hybrid in the first place. If I'm spending 50k on a ride and can afford it -- why would I be concerned about mpg? No disrespect intended -- just a friendly query. Kind of like premium vs regular gas. Maybe 150-200 dollars a year for me. Not a big issue as long as I keep the xanax handy.

No disrespect taken.
Currently I drive an x-5 which gets 14-15 ( I live in NY). The lexus would add anywhere from 7-9 miles per gal $3.35 a gal. Thats roughly one less tank of gas I need a month or about $50 a tank or $750 a year or $2300 over the lease term. That's if gas does not spike again over the next 3 years. If so all bets are off.
That being said, if I can find the car (like the fellow in Ca) who secured the same $52,710 MSRP at his price of $47, 500 that would be a winner.

Have you considered any of the buying services available -- fee based? Edmunds profiled one -- auto authority and found they more than made up for the cost in getting a better deal. Since you are looking for a less than loaded rx450h-- might offer possibilities.

2010 rx350...NAV,AWD,36 months 12K ( No sport and 12speaker radio) ...$445 a month with 5K down(Including everything)..( I dont mind risking the 5K) I like lower paymenst.. Northern NJ...
Please Tell me what you think? The dealer is making me do this before Thursday... If I can do better please tell me by how much?

Don't let the dealer control you. He can't make you do anything. If you rolled in the 5k 583 per month sounds about average. Your choice on the lower payments.

#1641 of 2764 lease deal summary for RX without RES
Dec 29, 2009 (11:56 am)
To be sure, for the 2010 RX without entertainment system:
for the AWD with 12K, the RV is 60%,
and for the FWD with 15K, the RV is 60% as well.
The MF is the same for either.
So it seems that Lexus thinks the FWD will retain better value.
