How will deal on 2008 compare with that on my 2006 M35x? by nrwayne

My current lease is up at the end of April. I have a 2006 M35x with an MSRP of 49,820. My monthly payment, including 6% tax, is $644. That's a 24-month lease with front money of $1200, including first payment. Since I'll have to start negotiations for the 2008 shortly, I'm wondering what the current money rates and residuals are for 24 and 36 month leases. I'd much prefer a 24 since I suspect that the M will probably be due for a major change shortly. Given the model's iffy gas mileage, one would think a six-speed transmission and/or higher final gear will be en route. In any case, I need the numbers before making a new deal.

Also consider the new FX which has the later engine and transmission. The financing probalby won't be as good, but the car would seem to have better mechanicals than the current M's.

My 24 month lease is up in June...not sure what I'm going to do....but the FX is definately an option (as is the 2009 murano).

The FX is essentially a gussied up Rogue. Much too small.

I feel that I got gouged on my 2006 M35 sport/journey/aero msrp $51K for which I'm paying $650 including taxes. IMO you should be able to do much better. Bart

I believe FX is the Murano while the EX is the Rogue.

The Nissans are both FWD based, while the Infinitis are both RWD based....

I think comparisons are hard to make between those models...

2008 M45 or wait for 2009? by coatandthai

I was just out looking for a car and stumbled onto the M45, which suits many of my wants. But is it a bad idea to get a 2008 in March when, in a "few" months, the 2009s will be available. Obviously you get a better price in March for a 2008 than in August-Sept for a 2009, but will you lose more on the resale/residual?

Also, any tips on a 24 month lease rate for an M45 sport/5.1 (10K/year) much appreciated. I have always bought cars but maybe it is time to lease since I tend to flip them quickly.

Anyone but Duke!

It will be more than a few months, the 08 Ms came out in like November. I bought my 07 on Nov 30 and the 08s had just recently hit the lots. There may be good deals to be had in the short term considering the gas milage they get, people may not be lining up to buy them. Couple that with a generally bad economy and sales of the luxury cars will inspire them to offer some good pricing/financing. Shop around and shoot low. Good luck!

Correct. The EX is the Rogue and the FX is the Murano. I need a sedan with a roomy back seat and prefer the M. I have to believe that given the economy and gas prices the 08 Ms aren't selling particularly well. My options include the BMW 5 (I had two), the Audi A6 (not a great value), the Cadillac CTS (ugly), and the Lexus GS (small inside, high $, boring overall). That said, it's probably the M again, but I do need the residuals and money factors for 24 and 36 month leases.

Actually the ES350 is larger than the lexus GS and less high $'s. I would also include the E350 in your choices. I'm in exactly the same boat (decision in June)....narrowing it down slowly. My wife (short) is very uncomfortable driving the 535 (or any BMW) because the seat belts don't adjust on the door pillars. A6 is out (lacks image..not worth investment), CTS ugh, ES 350 (I don't want to buy a toyota in a fancy image and everyone seems to have one). So I think I'm down to the 2009 murano, 2009 FX, another M (if it's a terrific deal, otherwise I lprefer change), or the e350.

The M navigation keeps annoying me. There's so much you can't do when moving even if it's my passenger trying to make the entries. Most recent annoyance: it gives me very few choices of restaurants...one page worth...when I'm on an interstate. The Honda system (we also have an accord) is FAR better.
