Thank you, Car_Man for your response to my May 3 request. Even though it was too late to help me with my decision, it is useful (and heartening) to know that the correct numbers for money factor and residual% were used in my case!

BTW, in your response to my earlier request of April 27 (# 336 above), you gave different numbers for the money factor and residual%! I would appreciate it very much if you would clarify which of your two responses (i.e., #336 or # 341) is correct. I am kinda hoping # 341 is correct!

Hi carman,

My lease in a '03 FX45 Premium expires Jan '07. Before my lease expires I thought it might be a good idea to take advantage of one of the current G35 lease offers. The offer that was presented to me is '06 G35x AWD sunroof, $3,500 total out of pocket, 12,000 miles, $399/month, 24 month term. This is a bit over the current offer of $2,900+tax, 12,000 miles, $359/month and 24 month term
because the dealer stated that they will incur negative equity in my '03 FX45 from dealer buy back (Nissan Financial Corp) of $27,547.75. In addition, they say they will take another hit for a minor accident that shows up on Carfax. They also mentioned that it would be better to trade now that wait until lease expiration because I may be hit with expenses due to the accident.

Do you think I am getting a good deal? Should I keep the FX45 until expiration? I need to make a decision today since this is when the current promotion ends.

Thanks!!

On the accident did you get it repaired? If you did dont worry about the accident re: the terms of your lease. I think you should never end a lease early. Total waste of money. Wait until Jan 07. Dont do the deal now just because they have lease support on the car now. There will probably be some lease deals later on as well.

Good Luck

Yes, the accident was repaired, however, they claim that there is evidence of accident repair.

Robert,

I'm curious. What are your reasons against early lease termination, when in this case, at least on the surface, and based on the numbers, it seems that I'm not being too harshly penalized for the accident and early termination?

How is it a waste of money?

Thanks!

Hey all,

I just leased a G35 Sedan with Navi,Premium B and Sport for $525.00 a month for 36 months with 20K miles/year with 1400 down. Is this a reasonable deal? Oh...BTW... I got my first chip on the front bumper with < 100 miles!!! Love the car so far. A little concerned with 3000RPM at around 75MPH though. Thanks, Cliff

If you repaired the damage done by the accident it does not cost you anything at lease end. If the dealer tells you the damage is a problem but it has been repaired, then they are taking advantage of you. The reason leasing does not work for probably 90% of consumers is the fact: #1 they overpay for the lease #2 They pay large cap cost reductions because they dont know better #3 They terminate a lease early. If you are set on the new wheels then do it. If you are doing it because you dont think there will be good lease deals later, then dont. Rob

If the car is totaled in an accident or stolen do you lose the MSD? I know on a cap cost reduction the money is lost but what about a MSD? Audi dealer told me the money would be lost but I am not sure they gave the correct information.

Thanks

G35 Sedan w/ SRoof w/ Pack C by kase161

Hey guys, thanks for all the collective information that I have gained from this site. I wish I lived in NY; it seems they are getting the best deals (I live in Texas). These are my questions; I am looking for a 2006 G35 2WD w/ Premium Package C w/ Sunroof. The invoice (according to Edmunds.com) is $33,458.00. My research has lead to believe that the residual value of this vehicle is 68% on a 24 month lease (12K). The money factor is .00082. Are these values negotiable (residual and money factor)? What is the best pricing over/under invoice I can expect for this car? I wanted to have fire power when I deal with the Infiniti Dealerships. I plan to bring $2,000 to the table (for taxes, fees, 1st payment and whatever else they can tag on). Thanks in advance!
