Not really. Its not required. TSX runs fine with regular.

The owners manual on the TSX says Premium fuel. This was also repeated by the Acura zone rep. It was a deal breaker for me. Of course you can run regular and the knock sensor detunes your engine timing performance, uses more fuel, and leaves you open to a disallowance of any engine warranty claims down the road.. Again a quote from the zone rep. Conversly the Accord was always meant to run regular.and it does so very frugally.

I don't think the 2008 TSX manual says premium is required. Someone with a newer TSX posted the changes in another forum here.
The manual may have warned against not using premium for 2004/2005 models.
Your warranty will not be voided by using 87 octane on a 2008. You just may not get the last few horsepower at the top end of it's performance.

Here is a quote from an early review of the redesigned 2009. Looks like a fine car but they now encourage use of premium to get the rated HP. Id' prefer they just detune the car to run on regular and stop claiming the need for the high test stuff. This is marketing in action..

"As before, the 2009 Acura TSX is available with either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, and the only engine remains a high-revving, 2.4-liter inline-4 with a 7,100-rpm redline that prefers premium fuel."

That still only says the 2008 "prefers" premium to get the rated horsepower It doesn't say the 2008 requires premium and it doesn't really matter what that says anyway because it's just some car reviewer's comments and isn't what's printed in the manual.

The only thing that matters is what's printed in the manual.

Even that article doesn't say you must use premium or the engine will be damaged and you will void the warranty.

Honda Accord buyout - can I offer less if I offer cash? by hondakate
Mar 28, 2008 (12:59 pm)
Reply
My situtation:
So…I am leasing a 2005 Honda Accord 4DR EX-V6 (with all the extras…navigation, leather, all the perks, and my car is in top condition). My lease is ending on July 14th, 2008 and I want to buyout my car. It is in great condition and I am under my miles. The buyout is $14,000. I am a young single female and I want to negotiate and pay less for my buyout. I am able to pay in cash. Edmonds true market value is as follows:
Trade-In value $14,788
Private Party value $16,384
Dealer Retail value $17,586

My questions:
Do I have room to negotiate with cash?
How should I go about doing this?
Edmonds recommends calling Honda and talking to someone regarding buyout options, should I do this?
Should I go to a dealership in person and hand them cash personally?
Should I buyout before my lease is up?
Is there anything else that I need to lookout for?

If you have any experience with this I would greatly appreciate any help. This is my first lease and I am trying to make smart decisions.
