If the $3500 was "total", then your deal is not too far off from mine. If you don't have recent payment history with BMW Financial, then I'm sure your $3500 includes a security deposit; perhaps $400? Hence, the total cap reduction you are paying should be well less than $1000, maybe around $500? If $500, then you're paying $2K less cap reduction than me. (Which is smarter than my method, but I really needed to keep my payments down!) Based on the lease calculations I've seen within our price range, for the terms of this lease, our monthly payment increases/decreases about $30/month for every $1000 we subtract/add to the cap reduction.
Put in a different perspective -- If I had dropped my cap reduction to $500, I suspect my monthly payment would have been somewhere between $360 - $365, before tax. This is for MSRP of $38,100. So, if your sales team isn't willing to budge closer to invoice cost on your car (and lower your payments below $375), maybe it wouldn't be improper protocol to call up the guys in their internet department?

Cotmc-
re your lease inception fee, I was quoted $825 from 2 DC dealers who said it was universal. And I was just informed by one yesterday that BMW has new terms coming out today. Maybe they will go $2K lease cash here too?
to answer your question, my quote was a 12K - 36 mo . What do u think?

I'm checking bmw's website and they still show outdated August lease specials. Anyone has an idea on when they'll update?

Gar,
I'm starting to doubt those 2 DC dealerships! They told you the $1K lease cash was universal, and NOW they're telling you the $825 lease inception fee is universal?? Just so you know, I'm 99% sure that BMW Financial requires a $725 fee, but dealerships are allowed to mark that up. Many dealers DO charge $925, including all 3 here in my area. I was planning to negotiate an additional $200 off my cost, but the dealer offered me free window tint instead.

The BMW website shows $725 in their examples for the acquisition fee, $350 for the security deposit.

Hi ssiegler. Here are the details of BMW's new September lease program for you. BMW Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2010 328i Sedan with 12,000 miles per year are .00225 and 60%, respectively.
BMW is currently providing loyalty cash on 2009 3-Series models, but there isn't any on 2010s yet.

Hi rider118. I believe that the 2010s are starting to arrive at dealers and that BMW had a solid month, sales-wise in August so it wouldn't surprise me if certain 2009 models were indeed getting scarce. A selling price of dealer invoice puts you at around $1,000 over (using the August program), which isn't terrible. If you've comparison shopped and $1,000 over is the best that you can do, I personally don't think that it's that bad a deal.

Hi gar653. It's difficult for me to say exactly how low you might be able to get the dealer to go on this car, payment-wise, without knowing what its MSRP is. That number will give me an idea of how well-equipped a vehicle we're talking about here. Let me know what this car's MSRP is and I'll tell you if I think there's any room left to negotiate.
