Congrats on getting your new "3," shweta1. Thanks for taking the time to give back and share the details of your lease with everyone. Real world examples like this are always helpful for community members who are in the market for similar cars. If you haven't already and you have the time, make sure to stop by the Dealer Ratings & Reviews section of Edmunds.com to share your thoughts on your recent dealer experience with others as well.

Enjoy your new ride !

Welcome back, BeamerMan. BMW Financial Services' current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2009 335i Sedan with 15,000 miles per year are .00225 and 56%, respectively. When negotiating your lease on this car, make sure to take advantage of the total of $2,260 in cash incentives that are currently available on it.

I personally calculate leases using a calculator that I set up in Excel using the formula that is outlined in the following article: Calculate Your Own Lease Payment. Edmunds.com has a lease calculator here as well: Edmunds.com Lease Calculator.

2009 335xi Coupe-Boston, MA by wasabicky

Hi Car man! I'm new to this forum and I wanted to get some advice from you. I'm planning on leasing a 2009 335xi Coupe and checked out a dealership to test the waters out there. I received an offer of $48100 right off the bat from an MSRP of $52250 on a 36 month $10K lease. Would be around 2857 cash down to cover fees (which included a questionable $900 bank fee imbedded in the 'other fees' that he reluctantly told us). He is also getting the car from another dealer he wouldn't tell us.
Is that a good offer? Do you need anymore information?

Thanks!!

Hey BeamerMan. BMW FS' 10,000 mile per year residual values are 3% higher than its 15,000 mile per year residual values.

I'm here, BeamerMan. I go through the boards alphabetically. If I'm working on the other end, it sometimes takes ma a couple of days to answer questions.

I'd be happy to work up a couple of sample lease payments for you, Nick.

According to my calculations, if you were to lease a 009 BMW 328i Coupe that has an MSRP of $40,300 and a selling price of $37,300 ($2,000 dealer discount & $1,000 cash incentive) through BMW Financial Services right now for 36 months with 10,000 miles per year, your zero down, pre-tax monthly payment would be around $446.

The payment for an otherwise identical lease of one with an MSRP of $46,550 and a selling price of $43,550 would be around $529.

Hi jamieb15. BMW Financial Services uses a pass / fail system. Either a consumer qualifies for its special lease program or they don't. I suppose that it's possible that BMW would require a down payment from consumers at the lower end of the group that qualifies for its program, but if it does I've never heard about it. I personally would try comparison shopping with a different dealer. The huge amount of money that's due at signing may just be this dealer trying to pull one over on you.

Welcome wasabicky. BMW Financial Services' current base lease acquisition fee is $725. It charges this fee on every lease, but as you have seen...individual dealers often try to mark-up this fee in an effort to add hidden profit to deals. You definitely should try to get the dealer to remove the mark-up.

The 2009 335i Coupe that you're interested in probably has a spread of around $3,300 between its full MSRP and its dealer invoice price. Plus, BMW is providing a $1,000 cash incentive on leases of this car right now. That gives you a total of $4,300 to play with during your negotiations. You were quoted a discount of $4,150, which is a very good deal, even with the acquisition fee markup. Just make sure that the dealer uses BMW FS' buy rate lease money factor of .00175 to calculate your payment and you're in business.

Lease money factor differences by BeamerMan

Car Man, You quoted a lease rate from BMWFS of 00225 on a 10k 36 month rate on a 335i, but I noticed on another post you quoted 00175 rate. Why the difference?

Hi Car man!

We figured out that he was inflating the MSRP by $1000 to give us that deal! So we went with that idea and asked him for the same deal, offering $48,650 on a car in stock at an MSRP of $52,800 that we confirmed. He offered $49,300, indicating it's $200 over invoice price. I think we're going to take that deal and now make sure he's not taking it back with excessive fees! In his initial offer, he included the bank fee in the inception fees as well as amortizing it into the monthly payments! We're busting out our laptop during the calculations to check the math. =D
