I think this is not a good deal, but I'm not sure. They had a quattro advertised for $349+tax $1900 due at sign in. I went in and wanted an A4 without quattro and they wanted $399+tax and $999 due at signin. Here are the specs of the car:

A4 2.0T 8EC5EC FWD Sedan 4D (Manual)
Premium, 17in, MoonRoof, and heated front seats.
MSRP 32760
Invoice 30222
Price: 30900

what should I expect on a lease?

Hi Danielle.

A selling price of $32,967 is $26 UNDER invoice for that model with those options, so from that standpoint it's an excellent offer.

Two questions:

1. Do you mean really mean $1500 down (as in, down payment toward the negotiated price of the car), or do you mean $1500 drive-off?

2. Does the $434.50 include tax?

If you're talking about $1500 total out of pocket to drive off and the $434.50 includes tax then you couldn't have done much better on the deal in my opinion.

PRC2,

Did you forget to list the sport suspension option? I'm showing a $250 difference between our pricing only the sport suspension and tire monitoring options have an MSRP of $250.

BASE $31,540
Destination $ 720
Sunroof Pkg $ 1,400
S-Line Pkg $ 3,000
Tech Pkg $ 1,775

     Total $38,435

Using just the info you provided you pre-tax monthly would be just a shade under $500. Of course, this is assuming no negotiating on the cap cost, zero down payment, and no other fees rolled into the pricipal.

You'll need to negotiate the selling price of the car before you do anything. It will make all the difference in the world.

For instance, if you negotiate a price that's $500 over invoice your pre-tax monthly would drop nearly $70/month.

evoic,

There's a lot that doesn't make sense to me with that deal.

Primarily:

1. The negotiated price was $1,388 BELOW invoice??? That seems unlikely to me.

2. I'm showing Audi's money factor as .00043 (1.03%) this month on the Quattro. Your stated MF of .0034 (8.16%) is way out of line ... and neither figure gets remotely close to $425/mo payments.

Based on your numbers I'm showing the following monthlies (incl. tax)...

MF of .00043 = $355
MF of .0034 = $520

There's definitely something wrong with your scenario, and I'm guessing it's the negotiated price and the listed MF.

Jack,

The advertised lease program for the Quattro is $369/mo (pre-tax) with $999 down (+ other out-of-pocket expenses)

$349 is the deal being advertised for the FWD model.

Both of those prices were based on cars that had automatic and sunroof package ... no other options and no metallic paint.

Based on your numbers above, with $999 cap reduction, 36 months and 12,000 miles per year, I'm showing your pre-tax monthly payments around $350 ... assuming no other fees being rolled into the principal.

If the dealer is rolling $500 worth of Advertising and Prep fees into the lease then your pre-tax amount goes up by about $15 and I could see a $399 monthly payment (tax incl.) being likely.

It wouldn't be a bad deal at all, but you could probably do a little better on the negotiated price and/or the dealer fees (if any).... depending on your area of course.

team_yao,

The first thing that jumps out is that you could do much better on the negotiated cap cost of the car. In LA you should be able to get the car for around 30k easily. I just got mine last weekend for $100 over invoice... plus, I got the $500 in typical dealer fees (National Advertising and Prep Handling fees) waived as well.

Another thing that stands out is the down payment. As CarMan mentions all the time, putting money down on a lease is a bad idea. If the car is stolen or totaled you lose the entire down payment. Gap insurance will only pay for what is still owed on the car ... not what you've previously put into it.

If you can get $1000 knocked off the price of the car up front you could then save that much money on your down payment.

The money factor from Audi this month is .00038 (0.91%).

Based on the numbers you provided, I'm showing your monthly payments at about $405 for 15,000 miles and about $385 for 12,000 miles.

Like I said though, negotiate the cap cost down and you could save yourself a bunch of money when it's time to write that drive-off check.

Robert,

Are you talking about a FWD model or Quattro?

The money factor is way wrong. Audi's program this month is featuring a money factor of .00038 for the FWD and .00043 for the Quattro.

What is "4 D"?

Do you mean 34,160 invoice, or MSRP?

Are you talking about the 5-spoke 17" wheels that come as part of the premium pkg, or the optional 16-spoke 17" wheels?

The 1691.48 "down" that includes the first payment... does any of that actually include a cap cost reduction, or is it all just drive-off fees?
