We find it much better than the 06 Accord EX-L V6 we came from. It is stiff but at least absorbs bumps much better. Definitely not as planted as the 03 Audi A6 we had previously but at least I won't be at the dealer EVERY month. I like the car more and more every chance I drive it (It's my wife's daily driver).

acuhonfan,

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, but the past few days have been HECTIC!!!

I've been researching my rear end off, with various cars, whether to lease/buy, etc.....

I do NOT understand why ANYONE would "pay down" the sales price, but hey what do I know right?

Still, from my figuring so far, I am not understanding the deals people are negotiating, and I am DEFINITELY not understanding why the payments of the Acura people are so close to the IS people, when you guys have a sales price 6 thousand dollars lower.

If you just take 6K alone, and divide it by 36 months, you will see it's $166.

I was considering leasing an Acura, but I can't get the numbers to work AT ALL.

If anyone could help explain this, please don't hesitate.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ---
The lease terms are 36mo/15k, 60% residual, .00215 MF, payment is $347.43/mo.

Term: 36
 Base Payment: 347.43
 Total Payment: 347.43
 Purchase Option: 17,952.00
 MSRP: 29,920.00
 Est. Miles Per Year: 15,000

Capitalized Cost 27,000.00
Doc Fees 185.00
Total Capitalized Costs 27,185.00
 Money Due at Inception
 1st Month Payment: 347.43
 Acq Fee (Upfront): 613.36
 Upfront Taxes: 878.50
 Total Out of Pocket 1,839.29
 Total Initial Charges: 1,839.29

=================================

The net cap here is $26,838 (27,000 + 185 doc fee - 347.43 1st payment upfront)

The residual is $17,952

So the Depreciation fee is $246.83 ($26,838 - $17,952/36 months), (Net Cap - Residual / term)

The Finance fee is $96.30 (26,838 + $17,952 x .00215)

(Net Cap + Residual x Money Factor)

Add those two together and you get $343.13, which is pretty close to what they were charged.

VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(excuse me while I do a little dance - j/k)

And since they paid the total tax upfront, no tax is added to their monthly payment.

Comparison by valuehunter07

Ok now we're getting somehwere....

So when I see the $347 payment for the TSX above, and then I compare to the $411 payment I saw someone make on the IS, the difference doesn't seem wide enough, for the price difference in the cars.

After all, on the one side you've got an IS with add-ons like Nav, Prem package, and 18" wheels, and on the other side it's just the base (NON-Tech package)!

Now that I can view what's going on a little better, I can now see that the TSX customer paid an MF of .00215, while the IS customer paid only .0006!

Now the IS customer paid a $3200 deposit (not a cap-reduction, but a deposit), but even still, I've seen others over there who paid NO deposit, and got an MF of .00085!

I'm going to do some more research, but hopefully this will encourage some helpful feedback, so we can make some more educated choices as to what is best for us individually.

Any leasing expert will tell you do not do a cap cost reduction. The disadvantage of a cap cost reduction is that, should your vehicle get stolen or totaled in an accident, you probably won't get any of the down payment returned to you.

If you are worried about higher payments take the money that you would have put down to cut the payment in a higher interest savings account. If and when you need to make a lower car payment take some of the money out of savings to help with the payment.

Funny...

In your last example: The cap cost is the cap cost... The first payment is accounted for in the money due at signing...

So, if you don't change the the cap cost, you'll find that the numbers come out exactly...

The closest dealership from my local dealership is 90 miles away. You might check within 100 miles. Patience is the key to getting a good deal. Work your numbers, come up with a price and payment your comfortable, then present to at least 5 dealerships. Let them come to you with their best offer.
I just leased a TSX in the past week, and love it. I feel I got a good deal.
When requestingfor a quote, ask for the details to be broken down....all costs for the monthly price they come up with.

Is this a good deal? by jkleinmd

I'm in NY and was offered this today.
Term: 36 Months
Monthly Payment: $358.80
MSRP: $29,920
Miles per Year: 15,000
Cap Cost Reduction: $26,915
Documentation Fees (set by NYS DMV): $67.50
Due at inception: $1980.00
Taxes (8.125% tax rate): $1045.48

The "due at inception" includes taxes and first month. I don't really need 15k miles so he told me he'd take off $20 a month for 10k.

Anyone know if this is a good deal?
