NEED ADVICE Please :) by mischh

I test drove 4 different cars today. BMW 328xi, Infiniti G35, Lexus IS 250 and Lexus TL. It's between the Beemer and Lexus but I'm leaning towards the Lexus b/c I really like it and it's less $$$.
Want to know if I'm getting a good deal.
Trade in my BMW 323i (year 2000/85K miles--excellent condition)
They are giving me 7,700 for the car (I still owe 6500) so the equity is 1,100.
So Trade in ($1,100) PLUS $2500 down would give me a monthly lease of $358/month for 36 months 15K miles per/year. No Navigation. Is this a competetive offer?

Congratulations on your new ride, jivaro. You were smart to take advantage of the fantastic lease program that Audi is running on the A4 right now. Enjoy!

Hi wbenedict. If you haven't leased your car yet you're in luck. Acura just enhanced its lease program on the 2007 model last week. It still doesn't have any lease support on the 2006 model though (it does have $2,000 dealer cash on the '06 TL). The '06 TL's current buy rate lease money factor for a 36 month lease is .00275. The 2007 model's money factor is a much more reasonable .00154. Even after the dealer cash is taken into account I suspect that it would be cheaper to lease a 2007 TL right now than it would be to lease a 2006 model.

Hi forte3880. You never mentioned the selling price or MSRP of the car that you are interested in leasing. These are important numbers for you as a consumer to know for two reasons. First, the selling prices of leased vehicles can be negotiated, just as if you were paying cash for them. Without knowing this car's selling price in relation to its MSRP you don't know how much of a discount you are getting on it. The second reason is that one needs the selling price and MSRP, including the destination charge, of a vehicle to calculate its lease payment. I would be more than happy to give you my opinion of this deal if you let me know what these numbers are.

Thanks for the additional information kenbgriffey. The dealer invoice price of a 2007 Acura TL with navigation is currently $33,624. If you are actually able to purchase this car for $32,660, you are getting it for $964 under invoice, which is an excellent deal. Just make sure that the dealer you are working with uses Honda Finance's new, enhanced buy rate lease money factor of .00154 (for "Super Preferred" tier customers who pay a security deposit at lease signing) to calculate your car's monthly payment and you're in business.

Hi keenerw. This car's lease payment will depend upon what sort of selling price you are able to negotiate on it. You should be able to get a good idea of how much you will have to pay for this car right now by visiting the following discussion and checking out how much others have paid: "Acura TL: Prices Paid & Buying Experience". Once you figure out how much you want to pay for this car, let me know and I can use Acura's current lease program to calculate what your monthly payment should be. Acura just enhanced this car's money factor from .00275 to .00154, so this is a great time to lease this car.

Hi lookingaround. Acura's lease program for this car wasn't attractive when you saw this ad, but it is much better now. Last week, Acura enhanced the 2007 TL's money factor from .00275 to .00154 (for "Super Preferred" tier customers who pay a security deposit). This enhancement dropped its advertised lease payment for this car from $399 per month for 42 months with $1,705 down to a much more reasonable $369 per month for 36 months with $1,035 down. The main thing that you need to focus on negotiating it your vehicle's selling price. Even though Acura's advertised lease payment for this car probably assumes some sort of dealer discount, in general manufacturers' advertised leases leave a little meat on the bone so to speak. Negotiate as low a selling price as possible on the car that you want and then have the dealer calculate its lease payment using he aforementioned special lease money factor.

Hi maz41276. You're in luck, Acura just enhanced its lease program on the 2007 TL. I can give you an idea of what this car's current program is like. Honda Finance's current buy rate lease money factor and residual value for a 36 month lease of a 2007 Acura TL without navigation with 12,000 miles per year are .00154 and 61%, respectively.
