2006 MDX Touring with DVD by davin

Car_man,

I was offered the following lease and I am trying to determine whether to get the car by the end of December or wait to see what the money factor will be in January. I live in the Philadelphia area. Details are:

42 month lease/12,000 miles per year
$1,500 out of pocket
Selling price of approximately $39,000 (still negotiating this)
Money factor - .0017
Residual - 56%
Monthly payment was quoted at $527 and change including tax

My questions are (i) whether the money factor above is attractive by historical standards for the MDX, and (ii) am I better off waiting until January to see if the money factor drops lower (and maybe the residual will increase)? Thank you in advance for your help.

You're leaving out some important information. What was your agreed upon price for the MDX? In other words, what did you pay for the car? And what was your money lease factor and residual value? This will help decide whether or not this is a good deal.

Current Recent Grad Program by mtnsmith

We are looking into leasing an '06 MDX for my wife that graduated in May and I am trying to find out what kind of recent grad program Honda Financial is offering on this vehicle. The website says to see your dealer and my dealer referred me to the website and I told them the website told me to see the dealer...and so on(I was tired of being passed from manager to manager and hung up). I think I will find a different dealer.
Thanks

Hello,

I am considering the same lease offer from Acura.

Have you already leased your MDX ? If so, what is the total price including tax.

Were you able to negotiate with the Dealership on the down payment ?

Thanks
in advance

Greetings kelvestto. Let me begin by saying that $4,000 is way too much money to put down on a lease. I always advise consumers against making any sort of down payment when leasing. I do so for two main reasons. The first is if your vehicle is totaled in an accident or stolen during your lease, your insurance company pays off the bank that you were leasing it through and your down payment essentially disappears. The second main reason is that down payments on leased vehicles do nothing to reduce their lease-end purchase prices. So your lease-end purchase option price for your MDX would be exactly the same, regardless of whether you had put $4,000 down, or had made absolutely no down payment at all.

Also, you never mentioned the selling price or MSRP of the truck that you are interested in leasing. These are important numbers for you as a consumer to know for two reasons. First, the selling prices of leased vehicles can be negotiated, just as if you were paying cash for them. Without knowing this truck's selling price in relation to its MSRP you don't know how much of a discount you are getting on it. The second reason is that one needs the selling price and MSRP, including the destination charge, of a vehicle to calculate its lease payment. I would be more than happy to give you my opinion of this deal if you let me know what these numbers are.

Hi mtnsmith. I don't believe that Acura is currently providing any special cash incentives on its vehicles for recent graduates. The special program that the web site mentioned may only be a matter of being more lenient in approving loans for recent graduates.
