Shooting Craps for the KR by rheller

I foresee an awkward scenario coming up for the KR. Those of us at the front of the line for an '08 may hold out for the KR only to discover that our dealership is not one of the lucky few to access one of these cars. That could mean losing a spot in line for the standard GT500 and coming up empty handed.

Hmm...as they say "a bird in hand." I hope this scenario will soon be clarified.

When Does It Begin? by rheller

I read elsewhere in the forums that the ordering banks open April 16th for the 2008 Mustang. I went in to my dealership yesterday and the sales manager attempted to access information to confirm this date and was unsuccessful.

Can anyone shed light on this? Thanks.

Yes, the ordering banks are suppose to open 4/16 for 08 mustangs. This is posted in Ford's site that shows all the models as to when they start and finish.

Your dealer can find the info in the "dealer news bulletin" section on FMC Dealer.

Have him type this into the search on FMC Dealer and it will come up. Then go to pages 5 and 6 to get the schedule dates.

New Shelby KR Hood by rheller

There's plenty of excitement over the appearance of the new engine hood for the 2008 GT500KR. Yeah, it looks cool. But keep in mind it's going to ride higher than the standard hood. It reminds me very much of the hood on the 68 GT500 I once owned. Behind the wheel, it's very noticeable - almost obstructs the forward vision to a small degree. Once one gets used to it, not a problem. But it does take some getting used to (as I remember).

Are you thinking of ordering the KR? I seen today for the first time pictures of the black Shelby with the new red option stripes and almost fell off my chair. That is one HOT looking car. I don't care for the red and black interior, but the black and red exterior combo is so HOT. I wonder what my Alloy would look like with the red exterior trim package? I was planning on keeping mine stock and original, however that red option is making me think twice. It wouldn't be too hard to change back the stripes to silver at a later time.
I tried to do my oil change today in my garage with my floor jack. I lifted it up until the tire lifted off the floor and couldn't get under the car enough to even find the oil filter. There's quite a few plates and shields under the front of that car. Called my buddy and we will do it next Saturday in his garage. He has two lifts and after todays attempt I have found you need a lift to do it safely and correctly.
I'm thinking of adding some Lemans stripes to my new torch red Ranger. Not too sure what color to go with. Rocker panels on my truck are gray and want to go with rocker panel decals to match Shelby. RANGER FX4X4

Ordering a KR seems very problematic at this time. Supposedly, there is a lottery to determine which dealerships can order the car. What happens if you gamble your spot in line and come up empty handed? Perhaps you miss out on the opportunity to order a GT500 altogether.
Another concern is price. Keep it under 20g and I can rationalize it. Otherwise, the option seems too much for my pocketbook. After all, can I really appreciate the added 40 HP? The hood and extra badges are certainly nice, but I'm not buying the car for show or as an investment. Lots to think about.

Yeah, I agree...the black with red stripes looks hot.

...........of putting a shine on my Shelby. This is all new to me, but I have read hours over the winter to prepare. I clay barred and began the paint cleaner process yesterday. I was surprised at all the junk that was lifted off a spotless car with the clay. I decided after several hours of research to go with the Meguiars NXT over Zaino. Two reasons I didn't go with Zaino was it's only available on line thru them (price control), and although it has a great reputation I think Meguiars offers just as nice an end result at almost half the cost. I intend on spending the entire day in my garage and I will post photo's on my car space album when I'm finished.
