There are two Kia dealers in Madison WI, and they both are usually well-stocked, though Russ Darrow Kia on the west side has more Rios than Capitol Kia on the east side. Both are adjacent to larger domestic dealerships owned by the same respective established concerns, so Kia's getting pretty solidly based in Wisconsin. Also there's Harms Kia down in Janesville, nice modern facility but I noticed on their stickers they like to tack on a lot of extras, like pinstriping (which is tacky IMHO). They've got a lot of last year's Rios they're trying to unload...had to drive around their lot awhile to find an 06. Darrow's is nice, it's closest to me and they let me take a Rio5 out alone. That's most likely where I'll be buying my Rio5 in a couple months. That new Optima...wow. Love the blue dash lights! That's a sharp car right there...nice inside and out. I could get used to a car like that. Todd in Beerbratistan |

I got to sit in a 2006.5 Optima at my local auto show yesterday. It was a red LX I4 automatic, $18,250 sticker price. I really liked the car and its features for the money: 5-speed Shiftronic automatic, telescopic wheel with audio controls, folding mirrors, etc. There was also a LX V6 on a pedestal and I noticed it starts under $20k (2.7L V6 however). Also, I found out that the manual seat on the Optima is comfortable for me, unlike the manual seat on the Sonata. So I could go with the base LX model on the Optima vs. a loaded GLS or an LX with power seat on the Sonata. I talked at length with a regional Kia rep (it was kind of slow in the Kia display). I asked him how much ABS and ESC would cost on the LX. He said $600. That means an LX automatic with all the safety features I want would be under $19k--about $2500 less than what a Sonata GLS with power seat would list for. However, I found out when I got home and checked kia.com that the LX I4 is not available with ABS and ESC--you have to get the LX V6 or the EX. The option (have to get them together) is $600 like the rep said. So the minimum price for an Optima for me would be about $20,500--not any savings over the Sonata given the rebates on the Sonata. I am hoping that for 2007 Kia will make ABS and ESC at least an option on the LX I4, as it really has all the features I need otherwise. |

It takes awhile to download, but it is really worth it. A great movie to show the different sides of the new Optima! http://lotze.kia.co.kr/lotze_cinema.htm Watch the movie!! Action packed and great fun to watch!! Lots of special effects! I'm surprised they put this much of a budget on a ad-type movie. |

| To help watch the movie with easy, try pausing in the beginning to let it download abit before you play the movie. The movie will be smoother this way. It might even be a good idea to let half or more of the movie download before playing it. | |

You can buy a New 2006 Chevy Mailbu for $200 bucks over invoice anywhere, and at $16,200 it offer a great platform, more room, great power, better fuel economy and a better Insurance Rating ... and a dealership convenient everywhere. Just take a look at it if your considering, the Kia, Honda, Toyota or Nissan ... the Malibu is excellent, and one heck of a good buy! FYI! If you want an even better deal on the new style Malibu, pick up a used one with under 15,ooo miles for about $10K!
