Replying to: tlong (Sep 27, 2008 10:02 pm) tlong,   It's so funny that you mention, that odd "thump" "pop" sound when going over a bump or up/down a driveway slowly while turning. I occasionally hear this noise as well and have taken it to (2) different dealerships only to get the same response every time. "Cannot duplicate it, everything seems normal with all suspension components" If you take yours and find out what this problem is please let me know or visa-versa. Thanks!

This just happened to me in my wife's 2008 Mazda5. It sounded like a gun blast in the cabin of the car and a woosh of air. The hole is the size of a soft ball directly in the center of the moonroof. The car is at the Dealers now. 4,100 miles and I don't know if it is safe to drive. My 14 month old daughter was in the middle row seat. Luckily she was sleeping with Elmo on top of her. Tiny pieces of glass went everywhere. The dealer/ District Customer Service Rep. told my wife that someone threw something out of the cabin! He did'nt even bother to come look at it himself ( he saw a digital picture). This is the only way they will deal with this because of the possible safety issue that would arise from accepting some kind of responsibility. This is total bull. Replying to: kuderich (Sep 29, 2008 3:51 pm) That sounds pretty scary and I'm glad everyone is ok. What indication do you have that leads you to believe it wasn't some sort of impact (ie, kid with a pellet gun)?

The pressure needed to brake a tempered auto glass is enormous, never heard of anything like that before.Given the size of the moonroof I believe a larger window (i.e. front door or liftgate) would go first. It sounds like somebody shot at the car from a pedestrian bridge or similar

I am loving my 5 day old '09 microvan. So far it is perfect. I took it back today to have options we purchased installed. I was told that even though Mazda sold us Sirius radio and IPod kit, they are incompatible and cannot both be installed. Seems a little strange that they would offer both as options. Anybody else find this? I checked with website called mazdaparts.org and found a seperate listing for an "Ipod Module Kit with Sirius Radio". I'm getting the feeling that both sales and service at my dealer are not experts on this car. Hope I'm wrong. Replying to: smk124 (Sep 30, 2008 8:04 am) I have a 2008 Mazda 5 GT with sirius and an ipod jack, so I can confirm it exists. I also have navigation and the ipod is selected from the touch screen as an input.

They didn't seem to know too much about it or how to put it in. I'm not overwhelmed by their competence. I told them to forget the Ipod thing and I traded it for an extra bike carrier. Replying to: smk124 (Sep 30, 2008 4:14 pm) I think they are confusing your vehicle with the 2007 where you couldn't have both accessories. They changed the head unit for 2008 to allow both accessories to peacefully co-exist. Tell them to read their accessories catalog carefully.
