I wonder if the iPod connector is going to be in the first '07 models or if it will be "late availability" months later.

Although you are correct that the Honda Odyssey has so much more room and it is comfortable. I know because I own a 2004 Odyssey...and I can't wait to get rid of it. It gets 14 mpg around town and 20 on the highway. It has been plagued with electrical problems (electric windows and audio steering wheel controls) since I have owned it. The console displays are extremely out of date. It floats like a boat. Of course my complaints on the handling might not be fair since my prior vehicle was an Acura TL Type S which I traded in for the Odyssey when 4 grandchildren came to live with me. I have been unhappy with handling since day one. The children that sit in the back say that it makes them carsick. So, I am considering the Mazda5 (it's zippy, good gas mileage, and great price), the Mazda CX-9...if they ever release it, the Hyundai Santa Fe, and whatever else seats 6+, gets good gas mileage, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I agree that the Mazda5 interior looks cheap...maybe the Leather option would help with that. One other thing...the Honda warranty is 3/36. How does that compare with the warranties of the other vehicles that you are condering? All factor to consider. Good luck.

Help - thinking of buying a Mazda5 by karlis

Mazda5 owners - I need your advice. My wife and I are looking for a good family vehicle. We have 2 kids (3 and newborn), need a decent amount of seating space, ease of back seat access, good cargo space and a competitive price.

We're torn between a used Honda CR-V and a new Mazda5.

Do you have any insight that could help sway us to the Mazda side?

Also, we're wondering how it does in Canadian winters.

Thank you all in advance!

Well all the reasons you mentioned were the reason we chose the 5. Oh and did you notice the sliding doors! Makes loading the kids in much easier. no banging doors in the parking lot. Lots of space. Our 2.5 year old loves having his own window seat!! and there is enough space in the third row. for the occasional full load haul!!

As winters go. I'll let you know next April!! But definitely get snow tires. All season tires are a myth!!

Wouldn't touch a CR-V... maybe you don't $1.10 l gas, but I do! The 4 banger in the 5 is pretty peppy and very economical!

But a Used CR-V is that...USED not comparable IMHO THe mazda will be new with all it's warranty and only your abuse /use to deal with.

The Mazda 5 is great for two kids if you have another one you give up some cargo space in the rear because the 3rd row of seats folds down to give you a lot of room the problem is when the third row of seat is up the amount of room is about the same as a toyota matrix or smaller. You may get a few paper grocery bags in behind the third row of seats. Or keep one of the third row seats folded down and you will have some room. But the Mazda 5 handles like a small coupe so its fun to drive! a little underpowered when you have a full load but its only a 4cylinder.

Anybody have an idea when the '07s will hit the US? How about the new Grand Touring model?
