I have an 07 Mazda5 on order from my local dealer, and going along with rdelaney's response, my dealer's latest update is that it's being built the first week in August and I should expect delivery late August to early September. If you plan on ordering one new, do it right away as there's a very long wait because of the demand. I ordered mine in the end of May and I'm still waiting. (which is fine, I knew in advance it'd be a while)

As far as the changes for 2007, don't expect a lot. This may have already been mentioned so forgive me if I'm doing nothing other than repeating. Changes include...

Color - Drop Carbon Gray and Cardinal Red... Add Galaxy Gray and Dark Plum Mica
Sport and Touring trim - NO functional changes. No passenger side armrest, no stability control, etc.
Grand Touring trim - New trim available. GT trim will add to the Touring Xenon HID headlights, heated leather seats, and blacked out headlight/taillight bezels

Hi jandree22,

Where did you find out 2007 information? Do you know if they added towing capability? Any new interior colors (black is too hot).

What did you have to pay for your 2007 model? MSRP?

Thanks

I actually got consistent information from a few relatively reputable sources. The first source was my Mazda sales manager... while he didn't go in depth, he briefly mentioned some of that 2007 information. He had an actual 'dealer press release' as you might call it, that outlined the new stuff. Also, over at www.msprotege.com in the Mazda 5 forum... do a search for "2007 Mazda5" and you should come up with a few threads. Finally, here on Mazda's website --> http://media.ford.com/mazda/article_display.cfm?article_id=23668&make_id=227 .

While I haven't read this specifically, I do not believe there will be any new interior colors or towing capacity. As it stands now, according to Mazda's specs, it's not even rated to tow, period. That being said, I've heard rumors in other countries that it can tow. Regardless, in my honest opinion, if you're planning to tow on a regular basis or with some good weight, it's probably in your best interest to look elsewhere. There's only so much that the 2.3L I4 and it's mated tranny can handle. There will technically be a new color of interior on the GT trim. The leather that comes with it will be some expresso brown color (like a reddish brown from my understanding), so that will not help the heat!

And I still have NO clue on pricing. I ordered the vehicle from my dealer with the understanding that '07 pricing will be release at a later date. I should be getting that information soon, though, as the build date is approaching in the near future and I'll even have a VIN for it probably next week too. I ordered the Touring with 5MT, Whitewater Pearl ($250 extra), SIRIUS, and DVD Entertainment System, and I think we came up with a guesstimate figure of $20,500. While this isn't specifically pertaining to Mazda, general prices increase only a few hundred dollars from year to year... I'm not expecting to pay over $21k. Oh, and BTW, that price is right in between MSRP and Invoice as of the time of the quote. If a dealer isn't budging from MSRP on a 5, look elsewhere... they're in high demand but not to the extent that you should be charged any sort of premium.

I'm very excited... I'm taking vacation in Key West the last week in August so I'm anxiously wondering which'll come first!

a - do we know what the price differences are between '06 and '07?
b - what are the prices for the Grand Touring?
c - when can we expect non-preordered Mazda 5's to hit the showroom?
d - do we know if the Grand Touring will be available immediately, or will there be a delay relative to other '07 models?

My wife and I ended up buying a 2006 Honda Pilot to replace my 2001 Escape. I just couldn't pass up the deal I ended up getting. I'm walking away from the dealership tomorrow with a new 2006 Honda Pilot for $20,250. Hope everyone gets what they want with their 5's and good luck. I may pop in from time to time just to see what kind of upgrades the newer models will get, who knows, maybe my wife will want to trade her '03 Accord in a few years for a 5.

Hi all.

I've been lurking here for a while as my wife and I consider getting a Mazda5. My wife really likes this car, but I've been encouraging her to hold off until the 07's come out. (I've always worried about buying the first model year of a car.) Now, however, I'm wondering if maybe we shouldn't just pick up an 06. It looks like they've held up pretty well. Also, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing a lot of new features in the 07. I'm thinking that this might be the right time to get a deal on an 06.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

It is true buying first model year of a car can be tricky, but this is my second first model year Mazda (04 Mazda3 and 06 Mazda5) and I haven't had any problems with either cars.

The mechanics of the Mazda5 comes from the Mazda3, so I would consider them 'proven'. Really the biggest issue I've had so far is trying to find accessaries for the Mazda5.

Something else to keep in mind. I believe the 07's come with a 3yr/36k miles bumper to bumper warranty and a 5yr/60k miles powertrain warranty. The 06 has a 4 yr/50k mile bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty. I personally perfer the longer bumper to bumper warranty.
