Such a frustrating process. by mommiemara

I love how they trow numbers at you. My dealer claims this week there is a $3500 incentive on the mazda5. I looked at a touring without any options and am being quoted $18,140 sale price this is before tax and fee's

I also looked at a GT with nav system and was quoted a price if $21,895 before tax and fees. This is as low as I have gotten so far. Should I keep pushing or is this a pretty good deal? Thanks for any help I was ripped of on my car 5 years ago. Live , learn and trying to do better this time.

I think that's a pretty good price on the Touring, but I think you can do better on the Grand Touring. It depends what the fees are, sometimes those are outrageous...make sure they tell you what fees will be included.

If anyone is looking for a Mazda5 in the midwest, specifically a Grand Touring, let me now. I've been talking with a lot of dealers and can put you in touch with ones offering the best prices. Just thought I'd offer...

The closest I could point you to is Evanston, IL (near Chicago). If nothing else, you could get a price and use it for negotiations. The best price was from Columbia, MO. Let me know if you want names.

Destination fees by lildanbassman

I got a dealer to accept $16,500 for a MZ5 Sport AT. I asked him about any hidden fees or extra costs and he said the only one would be a $189 documentation fee (and of course title & tax). From what I've read, some dealers may not include a destination fee in a quote, but is this normal practice or is it usually included?

Almost everyone of the quotes I have gotten online have not included Destination fees. Can I ask what area of the country do you live in? Because I am having a tough time getting any dealer to accept $17,000 for that same car.

Regional Incentives by bde1

2 days ago, I purchased CR's new car price report for a Mazda5. It shows current regional incentives (manufacurer to dealer.) The only current regional incentive is for the Midwest (IL, IN, MI, OH, WI.) and it is for $1,750, and says "thru 8/3/09." That seems to explain why most of the lowest prices mentioned above seem to be from midwest states. I'm from CT and a recent quote I received from a local dealer included a $1,750 cash incentive, which seems to be entirely separate from the $1,750 regional incentive. I'd like to know if the midwest dealers are passing on both the regional incentive and the cash incentive in their quotes (total = $3,500, which would explain the figure in post# 943). If so, I'd considering buying a car in midwest and driving it back home to CT. Any reason why that can't be done?

I have that CR report as well. I don't think it is right. I think that $1750 dealer incentive is national. Edmunds shows it as aval. and even more so I got a quote from a dealer in DC that was a cash quote and if I used ther special financing it would be $1750 more, just like the dealer incentive program reads.

That's what I thought, but a recent poster from OH said their dealer claimed there was a $3500 incentive....interesting
