Whenever you do a trade-in as part of the deal, they'll either make the price of your new car low and give you a low price on your trade-in, or give you a lot on your trade-in but not give you much of a deal on the new car. Best bet is always to sell it on your own. New car dealers make more money on reselling trade-ins than they do on their new cars.

bought it near austin texas! i just called every dealer from here to dallas and worked with the few who came in the lowest. the guy i bought it from had a ton of them on the lot, so maybe they're not selling so well down here?

oh and the previous post about trade-ins is very true - we sold our other car on our own and got more than $2000 more for it than dealers were offering. crazy!

Kellysny,

Would that have been Premier Mazda at Georgetown? Thats where we got ours through the AAA car purchase scheme. They were very willing to work a decent deal.

Just bought a carbon gray touring in Salem, OR. We live about 150 miles away. Price was set at 200 over dealer invoice over the phone. Paperwork was ready when we got there took about 30 minutes to look everything over and take a tour of the vehicle. Easiest car buying experience of my life. $20,700 out the door. Remote start, satellite radio, auto, cargo cover, cargo net, rear step, and the nice floor mats. Included title, tags, and full tank of gas.

Cardinal Red Touring - AT with NAV
Options: Auto-Dim Mirror, Bumper Step Plate, Roofrack
Bought from Brown's Mazda/Alexandria,VA for $21500
Worked out the pricing through emails. Got through the buying process without too much sales pitch or pressure to get the extra warranty or service packages.

One thing I didn't like was they couldn't give me an exact delivery time for the roofrack. Still waiting for it.

All Candian dollars.
$23,038.60 includes $105 met. paint charge, a/c, cargo net, bumber guard, touch-up paint, and wheel locks + $1390 Fght/PDI. Waived satellite radio which represents $200 off in price above. Leased it at 3.4% over 36 months - 20k/yr">. Put $4000 down as security deposit to get rate down, but deposit is returned at the end. First month, Gas & Air taxes ($175), loan lien fee of $37.67, License Fee ($25), and $265 for window tinting plus taxes paid on delivery.
Dealership: Kieswetter Mazda in Kitchener, Ontario

In over six months of ownership, I've only seen five other Mazda5's. Three on the roads around Leesburg and interestingly enough, one in the parking garage at work and one parked on the street right next to my office in Herndon.
