Congratulations. To me that sounds like a good deal, right on invoice. I'd like to know what others are getting for 08s. The remaining 07s around my area seem to have bottomed out at the up.per 28s which makes your deal seem even better

Back to pricing,

Anyone getting invoice, above or below on this truck? I was quoted MSRP for Nav Limited. My salesman said he could do better, and I'm pretty sure I can too. Here's the deal that was quoted. BTW, this dealer has just 1 Tribeca in stock.

36 mos/15 miles
37,544 MSRP (Limited Nav. with convenience grp 1/protection grp. 2)
37,544 Selling price
money factor...00165
residual...21,775.52 (58%)
530./month

Fitzmall.com have these for a little under invoice, ie a lot under MSRP. I see no reason why dealers can't match. I am in the same boat and plan to use fitzmall as my benchmark as others have done with success.

I won't lease unless I can get invoice or better on the Tribeca. 3 months from now we'll be quoted invoice and 1-2K under will be the good deal. 530/mo. (without tax) is just too much for this vehicle. I tried to get lease numbers on the Hyundai Veracruz and this is what I got;

money factor...00301 (8%+)
residual...49% on 15K miles/year

Totally not worth leasing, and not worth buying if resale is consistent with the other Hyundai's. End of discussion, end of interest.Acura MDX mf is .00255, residual of 49% (15K miles). I'd be better leasing an Audi Q7 at .00019 MF. and service is INCLUDED.

They're so new on the lots, it could be only the dealerships with larger inventories are willing to let one go at invoice right now... your dealer may think they can make more off of the next guy, if they've only got 1 to sell.

Not sure where you're located, but you can get internet quotes from some of the nation's largest dealers, like Carter Subaru (Seattle), Carr Subaru (Portland), Fitzmall (MD), and at least get ammunition to take to your dealer, if nothing else. I can tell you from first-hand experience that Carter is no-nonsense, straightforward, no harrassing barrage of follow-up e-mails. The others have good reputations.

Sounds like you're a very educated buyer... time to make the dealers compete for your business.

I went to two dealers in my area that had six Tribecas each on their lot. I didn't get hard numbers (I'll get them Monday), but my salesman was talking mid 33K for a loaded Limited with Nav, XM radio and a few other options that came in at 37,515 (my kids don't deserve the factory DVD player, and I 'm not impressed with the set up as the earphone jacks are in the thrid row seating area, only on one side). I'm betting that Subaru will lower the money factor on the Tribeca to get some movement on this vehicle in July/Aug. 07' Inventory is pretty small, or at least from what I've seen, and the salesmen are chomping at the bit to sell the 08's. I could be wrong on the money factor, but I can't see Subaru not bending over a little to get some traction on this model. Once they're on the street, they'll bring their numbers back up. Also, it's dead summer where money factors on the new year's model traditionally start out lower.

The headphones for the factory DVD setup are wireless. 2 pair stow in the drawer that's located in the bottom of the center console, accessed from the second row. That plug in the 3rd row is an auxiliary input jack for iPods, video game systems, etc.

I kinda feel kids should see the land they're riding through, to appreciate the vastness and variety of the country, but I'm probably naive, since I haven't taken any trips of more than a few hours with my little guy yet. Probably makes a big difference when there's more than 1 kid in the car, too.

I agree with you, but since most time spent in the car is 'around town' doing errands, chores, etc., kids need stimulation, and their choice is visual, TV and dvds, video games. I don't mind the ocassional video game, We have a wii system and even I'll admit it's fun, but my kids don't need to be entertained 24/7, and in the car. It's bad enough the remote is the first thing they reach for...

I peeked last week and saw the 08s are about $2000 higher in price than the similar 2006s were back in May when I was car shopping.

08s are being offered at invoice to me and I am a terrible negotiator. Is anyone getting much better than this?
