Hi, thecableguy :
envy you got a good deal from south of the border !
I noticed you asked about buying in US near the end of 2006 , and in late Janurary , you have one 5-seat limited !

How many time you spend on the paper work and have it registered in Ontario ?

Did you follow the instructions in www.cars101.com ?

I am in Richmond Hill too , very interested in buying one 7 seat .

thanks !

Subaru Tribeca-- How much off for a demo model? by jbeals

We are looking at the 5-psgr Tribeca (Limited) w/ Nav..I am wondering what is a feasible discount to expect since it is a demo model at the dealer with 5000+ miles already on it. Is 10% off about right, or is that too much/too little?

Any thoughts, experts out there?

Thanks in advance-
Heather O.

Heather - if this is a 2007 model, I'd shoot for about $26k, before tax & license.

Do you know the '08 is debuting in a couple weeks at the New York auto show? They are revising the exterior styling and improving access to the third row, but the big change is the engine. It'll be a larger 6-cyl that will give it much more "oomph", removes the recommendation to use premium-grade gasoline, and still gets about 10% better mileage than the current engine. Better mileage+more power+cheaper fuel=WOW! A Subaru CEO also said prices for the '08 will stay the same and more content may be added.

My suggestion would be to wait 'til official pictures are released, and if you like the new styling, hold out for the '08 when it goes on sale in June. You should still be able to purchase an '08 for at or near invoice, but not below invoice like the current models. Probably about $3000 difference from current discounts, I'd wager, but I think worth it. And the cheaper fuel & better mileage would help offset the cost over time.

I'd wait as well. Prices will only drop when the new one is more widely publicized.

There is a risk, though - supply is kind of short now that they're only using one assembly line at SIA. So wait for an 07 only if you are flexible about options and color, as I don't expect there will be many left over.

Sounds good.

Invoice is over $34k for that model. That's a LOT of miles even for a Honda, so they'll probably wholesale it out for $500, if that. A dealer won't put a car that old on their used car lot.

I've been looking at purchasing a Tribeca and still have not made the decision whether to wait for the new design or purchase the old model. Received a quote from the local Subie dealer of $31,000 for a 2007 Limited 7 passenger with DVD & navigation, aero bars, and all weather mats. Is this a good deal? Just wondering if anyone has sat in the new model and is it worth the added expense. Better yet has anyone driven the new '08? Looking for any advice.

Thanks,

Before I purchased the tribeca I looked at highlander ltd. I liked it but my wife didn't because the interior was very conservative "toyota like". The 3rd row access was kinda problem.
We looked at the tribeca and liked the interior and the 3rd access wasn't bad as highlander. We liked the different look of tribeca. The only problem we have is with the 90 gas and mileage.
The price the dealer quoted you is very good. Negotiate for dimming mirrors and mud flaps and bumper guards.
I have no idea about the 2008 model.
