No such luck around here. I search cars.com and within 100 miles the cheapest is 26k, and most are 29-30k.

I'm sure there are many more in RI, in terms of density.

Are you saying that Rhode Islanders are dense?

OK - there's gotta be some witty reply using Mass.(achusetts), but I just can't pull it all together.

Could not resist temptation: Mass. residents have so much mass that light bends around them?

Cash back $2000 by amy10

The customer cash back on all 2007 Tribecas has increased to $2000 for the month of February. I'm excited, as the B9 I ordered in January has not come in yet, so the $2000 back will apply (rather than the $1250 that was in effect at the time I ordered). (I live in the Northeast, not sure if this $2000 is the same nationwide.)

I was disappointed to find out when I bought my Tribeca in December that I could not use my $1,250 cash back along with the 4.9% financing! I took the 4.9% as that was better than I could find with my bank.
(Oh yes, it's February...i wonder what a Tribeca looks like???? Wish I had mine!)

Cool.

For MY2006, near the end, you could get both the cash back and the financing. It was a sweet deal.

Rear Seat Headroom?? by pro5moh

Hi Tribeca Owners out there..

Iam planning on buying the 7 Seater Limited in a day or two..
Test drove the vehicle twice already, but the following question pop'd in my mind (after seeing the actual specs on the space).

Iam 5'10 and tried sitting in the rear seat earlier with no problem.. But after looking at the Rear Head Room Specs on Consumer Reports, noticed that there is'nt enough head room space for the rear seats -- I do not remember noticing the space left out when i was sitting...

Anyone has any comments / findings.. on this??

I'm 5'11 and my brother in law is 6'2" or so and neither of us have any issue with head room in the rear seat. I don't think this is an issue at all.

OK.... It took ~5 weeks of shopping and negotiation, but I finally bought the Tribeca. I targeted and negotiated on a used silver 2006 Tribeca Ltd that was the personal car of the wife of one of the dealership's co-owners. Carfax confirmed that the dealer titled the car and that there was no negative history. It had originally come to the dealership in August with ~6K miles, and was put into inventory in October with ~12K miles. It was on the dealership lot (actually being used as a "demo", meaning one of the dealership execs drove it around a lot) since October. Being a dealer personal car is not necessarily a "bad thing", since most of the annoying little warranty adjustments and repairs on the typical "new car" probably had already been taken care of. It had ~16K miles when I first test drove it. I followed my strategy for the first go around with the dealer, and left after we couldn't come to an agreement at ~$24K. However, I kept in touch with the salesman, and after the vehicle remained on the lot after the big President's day sale, gave him another call. The current desk manager gave him the go-ahead to let it go for $26,900. (I actually would have been a little disappointed if the dealer had actually lowered the price considerable on the first or second round of negotiation ... it would have meant that I left some significant money on the table.) The nearing end of factory to dealer incentives to move out leftover 2006 inventory by end of February probably also contributed to his selling decision. It was a bit more than I originally wanted to pay, but, after talking it over with the wife, we jumped on it. Actually, the Tribeca now seems to be well worth the extra few thousand since it is fully equipped with NAV, DVD, puddle lights, roof rack, premium stereo with 6 CD changer, all weather mats, front bumper underguard, cargo nets, and tow package. We found the original MSRP sticker in the glove box ... $40,160. I'm happy with the $13K+ savings.
So, all of you bargain hunters, the time is right for great deals, but beware, because at these prices the inventory is depleting rapidly. There may, however, be some great deals coming up on 2007s when the 08 Tribeca hits the market in a few months. Also, the 2006 2 yr. leases will be rolling into the dealerships soon. If you happen to go shopping at Rafferty Subaru in Newtown Square, PA (just west of Phila.), ask for Troy. I have no business or personal relation with him, I just think he did a great job and deserves a plug.
