I doubt you'll get it that cheap. I'm also looking at used 06s and the cheapest prices you see for a 7 pass Limited with Nav are right around $26k. Mileage varies between 8k and 22k and to be honest the higher mile ones are no cheaper.

Add the DVD and figure on $27k for a target price.

I seriously doubt you'll get it for $23.5k. For that much I'd buy 2 of them.

I'd say buy it even if you can get it for $26k, that's a grand cheaper than I think they would go.

from Van Bortel Subaru in Victor, NY.
I imported the vehicle into Canada. It cost me US$30412.5 including remote starter, reverse sensors, bumper cover and rubber mats. No tax because I don't live in NY.
The vehicle is great. However, there are some noise when turn up/down driver side window. The dealership here in Richmond Hill, ON had it re-adjusted and it's covered by warranty.
Special thx to cocopandan. You advised me to import a Subaru.

I don't quite agree. The new Suzuki XL7 it currently being heavily advertised and is going to be a competitor to contend with from Subaru's perspective. Even though the XL7 quality is still not up to that of the Tribecca, one can pick up a fully loaded XL7 at the base price for a 2007 Tribeca. Subaru isn't going to spend any further dollars advertising their "Edsel" version of the Tribeca until the revamped version is introduced later this summer. This will force the dealers and Subaru Corporate to give some substantial discounts and incentives on the current 2007 models. All of this is occurring at the same time that the used 2006 Tribecas from the one year and fleet leases are being dumped into the market. I think with diligence in watching available stock, some good negotiation skills, and a little patience, one will be able to snap up the used Tribecas at unheard of discounts.

I hope you're right and I'm wrong, because at $23k I would very likely buy one. I just haven't observed prices that low yet.

Maybe when the 08s arrive that will happen.

XL7 is much improved, especially the engine, but it's a niche player that won't have a big impact on any of its competition. They'll carve out a little niche for themselves, though.

Their warranty is fully transferable, so as a used car it's the best warranty you can buy.

lkconfer - I like your strategy. Perfect conditions to buy. Diamante's a nice vehicle. Cars101.com says invoice, including destination, on a 7-pass Ltd w/DVD & Nav, is about $35,700, not $31,571. I think I recently read that Subaru has stopped (or slowed?) production of '07s to help reduce inventory by the time the '08s come out.

Just saw a used 06 Tribeca Ltd with NAV, (no DVD though), 3rd row, and only 13K miles ADVERTISED for $26,900 at a local dealer. CarFax didn't turn up any negatives on it. I made an appointment to go look at it. Maybe with a little luck and negotiation, I'll be able to get it for ~$24-25. A freezing cold snap and flurries in the forecast is keeping the prospective customers in their own warm houses and the dealer showrooms empty. This is all happening with only six business days left before the end of January. It looks like the "perfect storm" is forming for the buyers. I'll see soon. Keeping my fingers crossed ...

Go get 'em. Good luck!

Best deal I saw was a similar car with only 7800 miles for $26k. The asking price is not too bad.

Sometimes winter weather actually increases the traffic in Subaru showrooms. That's more likely at the beginning of winter, though, I'd guess.

Like juice said, good luck out there! Sounds like you're a very disciplined, knowledgable buyer. Let us know how it goes.

I got my 06 Tribeca, limited with NAV for $26,500 last August (had 10,000 miles on it) and ever since then, this dealer runs adds every week in the paper offering similar ones for less than $25,000. Carla Subaru in Pawtucket, RI
