Thank God he called our sales person back at Suburu in Ft Lauderdale who (after some shock) is arranging to get the car towed back to Florida to repair. We are now in a rental and now in NC. It may be weeks before my car is repaired.

When I went to pick up my dad's new 07 Tribeca I came extremely close to hitting a deer on the way back with it... At least you know it protected your husband. Read my storey about the guy driving a Tribeca who had a head-on accident with an Intrepid....Intrepid driver killed, Tribeca driver...broken leg. |

I wasn't smart enough to lock in an exchange rate 2 week ago however. This is the 7px DVD/NAV 06 Tribeca. The only problem is there aren't a lot of colors available. |

| Hello,I am new to this board and am looking for fair price advice on a 2007 B9 DVD/NAV. Will also have the mesh grill (but not the Chrome wheels or radio--I opted not to get those), starter, dimming mirror/compass, mats, puddle lights, rear bumper cover, & hood protector, shock security system. The dealer has quoted me MSRP of $38,979 and will get back to me regarding invoice price. Am I still aiming for "1,250 below invoice" as advised in this forum? Will be trading in a 2002 Subaru VDC. Thank you for your help! | |

If he's got the vehicle that you want (options and color), tell him what you're willing to pay for it, and that you know that this is the going rate for the vehicle. Tell him that you'd love to give him (presumably your local dealer) the business, but that frankly, given the internet, and buying services like carsdirect or Costco, the prices for cars are well set. It only costs $300-$400 to have a vehicle shipped from 3 states away if you need to do that. I'm sure that there are plenty of dealers within 500 miles that would love the opportunity to 'mail' you a Tribeca for a great price. Be nice, polite but clear. Don't step foot back in that dealership until you've already agreed upon the vehicle and price via phone and email. Email provides a great written record of their offer. Make sure that you have all charges itemized (and that extra charges are a minimum). Dealers are quite quick to throw in $150 paperwork charges, set-up fees, paint protection, fabric protection, extended warrantees- all of which are high profit items for them, all of which are completely negotiable. Some buyers have been able to get ~$2K below invoice recently, but I expect that these are from larger, high volume dealerships. You may reasonably need to pay a bit more in Maine, but- you get to live without 20 million people as your neighbors. good luck, and keep us posted. You'll love the 'beca.
