Ah, thanks for the info. About 20 years ago we had an infamous tire fire here that burned millions of tires, lasted three months, temporarily closed I-5, caused evacuations due to toxic smoke, and had contaminated runoff from firefighting attempts foul the river and Puget Sound. With all the black smoke billowing skyward, I thought Mt. Rainier was erupting like St. Helens did.

Prob'ly worth $8 bucks on any tire purchase to avoid this.

Yes, the dealer adds it. I'll give you details when it gets closer to picking up the car. It's an aftermarket thing they do.

Yes- you can add bluetooth to any car. Here's a company called "Parrot" that makes a number of different models. I think you can get them for ~$200.

Costco Program by rfeaster

I am close to purchasing a 5 passenger Limited B9. The dealer has one in stock with a couple of things on it I don't want/need (trailer hitch, back up sensor) and is missing things I want...all of which he says he can add at the dealership. My question for now is...has anyone purchased through the COSTCO program? If so...how was the experience/process?

Good luck with your new Tribeca - you will enjoy it! I have not bought through the Costco program but I do purchase through a VIP program.

If your dealer is honest with a good reputation your deal will go smoothly.

You should be able to get a vehicle the way you want it - insist on it and be patient. When purchasing through programs the dealer is given a fixed profit - so it is in his best interest to sell from his inventory and do as little work as possible. They will also try to add to their profit by padding lease and loan payments, dealer installed options and add ons, and bogus fees. Costco has no control over this!

You will have to negotiate your lease and loan payments.

Question what you don't understand and if you feel pressured walk out.

Try to have the car come from Subaru with all the factory options you want.

I'm sure you already know most if not all of what I stated and I apologize for making this process sound awful but many people I know have been cheated (including me when I bought my first car).

Hope I could help.

Charlie,

Thanks..that's helpful. What is the VIP program? Is that different than the Costco program? I have been able to find the MSRP and the invoice of the various options so I think I will have a handle on the cost of those. They are saying thta they can offer me the Subaru financing (interst rate) even after it ends on Oct. 31.

How much over invoice did you pay using the Costco program?
