sorry but they don't owe you anything, if you choose to sell the car yourself and didn;t have the new car in front of you or its written into the contract for a specific delivery day you're unfortunately on your own. they may be nice and chose to offer you something but they have zero obligation legally to do so and its all goodwill.
if you absolutely must have something by a certain time, always make sure any contract specifies it. if they outright lied to you in some way and purposefully deceived you then you may have some recourse but try proving that one!

I feel they intentionally deceived us. They said the car was in Boston when it wasn't and that it would arrive "any day" which it hasn't. They were pushing us to take their offer on our trade in because if we weren't ready to buy the car when it came in (meaning hadn't sold our old car which was the downpayment) they implied we might lose the car to another buyer.

You're right, we should have gotten something in writing from them.

And as I wrote, we've made a college kid really happy with a great deal on our old car.

But what about the hold up in production of the 5 LTD? Any news on this?

Take the loaner, and don't underestimate the value of a loaner, that's worth a good $300 or more per week. I say take it and run. You'll keep the miles off your new car and have a free opportunity for an extended test drive.

Don't worry, be happy.

I agree with juice.....

Be glad they have offered a loaner.. Just like free money.. It isn't as though you are paying for the car, yet...

Or...it's as if you paid less than you did for your new car.

When you look at it that way, the longer they take, the better your deal becomes. The price just keeps dropping.

Pray for more delays. LOL

I think he is not asking about the issue so much as the delay on the 5 LTDs. I wonder if its to change over to allow the 5 LTDs to be able to have NAV and DVD options now...

I agree. Take the loaner, and ask for a tribeca if they have one. Then drive it like you're renting it for free . Put as many miles as you feel like and test out the capabilities of the car (within reason of course).

I'd love it if they take some time to deliver the car. By taking the loaner, you're forcing them to be quick about it since they know you're putting more and more miles on the loaner everyday.

Yeah, sales people always flavor certain facts in a way that serves their purpose so I get how you feel. But that's just a part of buying a car.

So it seems that you've not signed/paid for the car yet. To make yourself feel better, you can always ask for some small accessory before you do sign and pay for the car. (keychain or all-season floor mats).

Hey, if they take a while, you have time to really get to know the car and potentially change your mind and decide on a different car or options.
