So you paid more because they had the color and options you wanted and you were not willing to walk away. no offense but you paid a premium because you wanted what they had and they probably knew that. its supply and demand. at the time you signed for the car then you knew how much over invoice you were paying and wanted the B9. like posted earlier, you get the better deals when you are willing to walk away. pissing off the dealer (so what) they are in car business and once you get emotions involved you more then likely will pay more. yeah they got the vehicle there but not at the price you wanted to pay. then walk away. you chose not to walk away and paid more to get the vehicle that was in front of you. around here there was ONE dealer that wanted MSRP. I walked and after 3 dealers found one to give me a good trade value and invoice on the B9. but I did have to walk after 3 hrs of negotiating then when they called back I got $800 off the price and $1000 when it was all said and done. I didnt feel bad, they made me feel that way when I walked but heck its my money. and they did call me back the next day to renegotiate

We shopped the internet, negotiated a good deal on a 5ltd due to arrive at the dealer beginning of Sept. The day after Labor Day the dealer told us it was due in "any day" and was in Boston (3 hours away). Not willing to take the trade in amount they offered, we dropped the price on our old car in half and sold it within 24 hours. Suddenly the car hasn't been shipped, is still in IN, and the dealer tells me today that Subaru is holding up production of the 5ltd but they should resume "any day now." I've let the dealer know I'm p!ssed off and they've offered us a loaner to tide us over. I also know we could have gotten more for the old car but I tell myself we got what I was willing to settle for as trade-in and in the meantime we've made a college kid's day. So my questions: 1) Anyone heard anything about this hold up in production? 2) I feel like the dealer owes me more than just a loaner. There's always the option of taking a hike to another dealer but the thought of starting over fills me with dread. Do I push for free floor mats or something more? |

Replying to: harvpt (Sep 13, 2005 3:47 pm) if you absolutely must have something by a certain time, always make sure any contract specifies it. if they outright lied to you in some way and purposefully deceived you then you may have some recourse but try proving that one!

I think he is not asking about the issue so much as the delay on the 5 LTDs. I wonder if its to change over to allow the 5 LTDs to be able to have NAV and DVD options now...

I'd love it if they take some time to deliver the car. By taking the loaner, you're forcing them to be quick about it since they know you're putting more and more miles on the loaner everyday. Yeah, sales people always flavor certain facts in a way that serves their purpose so I get how you feel. But that's just a part of buying a car. So it seems that you've not signed/paid for the car yet. To make yourself feel better, you can always ask for some small accessory before you do sign and pay for the car. (keychain or all-season floor mats). Hey, if they take a while, you have time to really get to know the car and potentially change your mind and decide on a different car or options.
